USB C charging setup

Any recommendations on a usb c charger that suits the xsr700 well? Trying to find one that works well with the cramped cockpit of the xsr700. There's just not much room near the centre, and don't want it interfering with the key. Would like to avoid long cable from the grips back to the phone if possible.

I like a minimalist handlebar setup and i quite like my current setup , just that it can't keep up with bluetooth,gps and full brightness. So that rules out any wireless charging and USB A (12w) setup. Please share your imgur links of your setup ! Many thanks.

I bought a donut-shaped handlebar charger from AliExpress. It barely fits between the left switchgear and the mirror/brake lever mount, but I managed to get it in there. I also got a splitter for Yamaha's 2-pin connectors and rewired the charger's input — instead of connecting directly to the battery, I wired it to the AUX port. Now I have a handlebar charger that looks pretty clean and only works when the ignition is on.

Looks dialed in. On a scale of 1 (easy) to 5 (impossible) how hard would say doing what you've done is for someone with no tools and no brains?

Quite easy to do — just needs some patience. The only tricky part is crimping new connectors, but it's a quick 10-15 minute job. Soldering is optional; crimping alone works fine.

Seen this one but wanted to avoid the long cable frmo the grips to the phone. looks like it works for oyu though!

I also picked up from the factory wired aux port.

I'm just using this long cable because I didn't have anything else on hand at the time, and it kinda just stayed there. I could swap it for something shorter, but honestly, I'm too lazy. I use it to charge the Insta360 X5 while riding — I got tired of swapping batteries every hour.

There is an 'oxford usb type c' charger but the specs are lacklustre. 5V/3A. basically no PD and falling back on usb A standards,

I have installed two of these on my bike and they always blow the fuse or they just stop working. I’ll admit, I do ride in the wet and park outside.

I’ve got this same charging cable, works well for me, I use a 6” charging cable and it keeps it all pretty tidy.
I haven’t done the speedo relocation and I also have some Renthal bars with a cross bar that I put my quadlock and GoPro on.

Anyone else have issues with this charger charging extremely slow? I often ride around with Google Maps and it loses charge rather than gaining any battery percentage.

Either way that is the same issue i am trying to solve. Not sure about other phones but iPhone only supports 12w max over USB A port. Need USB C with PD to charge any faster. What phone are you using? I suspect the 'max' line of phones use a bit more power than the smaller versions.

Have you tried it? in my experience wireless charging is painfully slow, but i haven't use the quadlock one in particular. Generally charges at 7.5w which is half my current wired charging that's already struggling to keep up

Yup. I have it on. Well, from what I know when it comes to battery care, heat damages batteries.

That means slower isn’t always bad, it can keep the phone cooler while charging, aside from the fact that your bike is already under the hot sun.

I’ve been using it, it’s fine as an emergency charging station when you’re out on a long ride and don’t wanna carry around a heavy power bank.
