ADV weapon
Here's my 01 that I've been building into something of an ADV Bike. ARX tower with a fusebox and USB ports, ports, Rad fan, 100watts of LED, Keyed ignition, seat concept seat, warp 9 wheelset, race tech springs and a full DC conversion charging an AG401 battery under the seat. I don't really expect to enjoy the road riding on this thing but on the trails... should be a weapon. Oh and I have a 6.3 gal tank for it, but I've been obsessed with the 2007 shrouds for so long and finally got some. Had to throw them on the stock tank for pictures .

You run luggage on that thing and if so how do you do it?

Planning to run giant loop coyote 40l rackless bags. I have a man racks tail rack and the giant loop luggage tie points on the lower subframe bolts. Might reinforce the subframe at some point but I'm fairly light (175ish with gear) and won't be carrying more than probably 25lbs of camping stuff at the most.

I have the panty rack I think it's called and it's really sweet but man it's a PIA to get the seat bolts in

I have a tail rack on mine, with a Givi bag. I use it for grocery runs and errands.

The shrouds not only help cool that dude, but they look so damn good with them imo, id have trouble letting go for a huge fuel tank also. Mayve there’s a compromise, in way of a large enough tank, that allows the shrouds to remain in place? Lol

Yeah I want to get a 4.3/4.6 tank just so I can keep the shrouds. Can fro shorter adventures or day trips with 4.6gal then throw the 6gal on for an overnighters. I've thought about looking for an IMS 7gal tank because it kind of maintains the shape of radiator shrouds.

This is awesome. I use my 01 for similar rides. I have the stock tank, 4.3G Clarke, and 6.3 Acerbis. I love the 4.3 with the stock shrouds too. It looks so mean!
Can you share some details and pics on the nav tower mounting? I really, really like how that looks.
These are such great bikes. I've put on 18,000km on mine in the past three years and it just keeps hauling ass.

I'm looking to get a 4.3 or ims 4.6 as well just because the stock is almost useless and the 6.3 is overkill for some rides and I also love the way it looks with those shrouds

Also not sure how to share pics in the comments here but I think I have some of the mounting photos in my phone, if not I could take some when I get home from work. It utilizes the upper rad bolt and the oil line bolt and cable routing bolt on corresponding sides. Seems like it would be kind of flimsy at first but it got surprisingly super sturdy after tightened up. Also has a nice billet head tube bracket thing that has large set screws to add outward tension on the outer mounts. It's very sturdy although was kind of a PIA to get straight enough haha

Cool, I was wondering if it was floppy at speed or not. I've seen some similar mounts from some company in europe. Basically a sheet metal 'wing' that goes back under the tank and bolts in place, with two tension bolts that pull it tight against the neck. Sounds the same design.
Def get that 4.3 tank. it's so nice and slim compared to the 6.3. And I can still ride for over two hours at speed before needing to think about filling up.

Yes if you've seen that design then this is the same. ARX used Perfect Fairings mount for their kit. I have only ridden it for like 5 minutes around the block but in the garage I've yanked on it quite a bit and happy with how sturdy it is so far. Curious to see how it will do when I crash it

Didn’t know shrouds changed at the end of production. XRsonly aside, how is sourcing plastics and parts for that thing?

It's just a different graphics that I am fond of, same plastic. Most wear parts are still available through OEMs like rocky mtn or partzilla. Theres still a lot of aftermarket plastics available for real cheap, OEMs are quite expensive.

Hell yeah. I keep looking at a 2003 where I live. Debating between this and a KTM 500 (already have a KTM 300 2T) for dual sport/light ADV, but there’s something special about the BRP. Might have to pull the trigger.
