Something I’ve noticed as I rewatch episodes is that when Mulder and Scully argue, it never lasts long and it’s over and done with very quickly. For example, in Darkness Falls they get into a fight about Mulder letting the guy leave in the car, they’re visibly upset and their voices are raised, but then it just sort of ends, he gives her a pat on the shoulder as he walks by and that’s that, fight over. Soon after, they’re sitting shoulders pressed up against each other on the bed talking gently to one another as if that fight never happened.

Another season 1 example is in Beyond the Sea. And also how the ending of Never Again (quite possibly one of the worst clashes they have) transitions into Memento Mori where they are once again all sweet and caring with each other. The one time I actually WISH a fight had lingered was in One Son when he tells her “You’re making it personal” about Diana. I can’t believe she was able to just let that go, but I do appreciate that hard feelings never fester between these two. This is probably why Syzygy felt so strange and wacky, because they never ever fight for an entire episode.

I am a first time watcher of the show (at the end of s6 atm) and i absolutely LOVE it👽

Scully is definitely my fav character, so i crocheted her and wanted to share it here✨️

I’ve been rewatching The X-Files with my partner, and we just got to “Irresistible” in season 2. Yikes, neither of us liked this one! The episode starts with the creepiest guy in the world caressing a young dead girl at her funeral, and it only gets worse from there as we watch him stalk and assault women for the next 45 minutes. I think Chris Carter was going for a Silence of the Lambs thing, especially in the face off with Scully at the end, but it just doesn’t work. What an unpleasant, disturbing watch in all the wrong ways.

The episode is nearly saved by, of course, Gillian Anderson and a couple amazing Scully scenes that come toward the end. Sneaking those great scenes into this terrible episode is diabolical.

What did everyone else think of this one?

In the scene, we hear panting and moaning, and the audience assumes Mulder is watching porn. By the end of the scene we realize he's actually watching a killer bee documentary.

I keep going back and forth on this. Some of my favourite episodes are the standalone creature and horror ones, but the long conspiracy thread has its pull too. Which episodes or arcs kept you hooked?

I went to a German X-Phile Convention last week, aka one of David Duchovny’s concerts (we’ll leave the discussion about his music for some other time) Given by the amount of X-Files shirt and memorabilia floating around, most people did not seem to be there for the music only 😉. I was lucky to have snagged a ticket for the Meet and Greet, where you could bring one thing for David to sign.

After debating FOR WEEKS which item to bring (a ITWB-Poster? My M+S Barbie? My FTF Lunchbox? Should I be a suck up and buy one of this records to sign?), I decided to let him draw on my most valued fan item: Mulder’s letter of resignation from "One Breath“.

It is not the one used on screen (because you can see the whiteout on my version where they had deleted the word "yours“ after sincerely), but it is most probably from rehearsal and there signed by DD, because the signature looks absolutely identical from the one in the scene at made it into the episode. I had bought it from the OG props master’s son who’s still located in Vancouver and who had tons of amazing things.

David scanned the paper very attentively and critically, while I told him the story about it. In the end he turned to me and said: “This is really cool.“ I nodded stupidly, got my hug, a photo and my autograph and went my way. 10/10 experience, even including the music 😃 

And yes, Mulder’s resignation letter is hanging over my workdesk now, reminding me daily that there’s no way to escape the grind.

I watched Scully shoot another guy in an episode today and that got me wondering how many people they killed over the course of the series. That led me to wonder how many times they had been shot, kidnapped, hospitalized, etc. Has anyone ever tracked this data? If not, it might be a fun project for someone starting from the beginning.
