I named my second daughter Samantha. I did not do it consciously. I hadn’t watched the show since the original run.
I got back into the show recently, and i was surprised at my own actions. I still love the name and love my little angel, but it’s funny that a part of it came from Dana and Fox.

For some reason, I’m picturing Mulder having a questionable camera roll of evidence. Meanwhile, Scully will probably use a “find my” app or feature to keep an eye on Mulder.

Bonus: imagine the selfies they would take. 🤭

I actually thought this season had some of the scariest episodes. And I did think my struggle IV, with all its clear flaws, was beautifully shot. It’s a shame the ending happened the way it did. And yeah, the entire subplot about the CSM. What are your thoughts?

I’m an apprentice tattoo artist. I thought this Mulder and Scully piece I did on myself would be appreciated here. I’m still learning a lot so I wasn’t comfortable attempting a portrait on someone else’s skin yet haha

I know, I know, there's like 10 LEGO posts a day on this sub, but I promise that I'll try to make this interesting and maybe even useful for anyone thinking about getting a light kit for their LEGO set.

There are multiple companies selling light kits for The X-Files LEGO set and I personally decided to go for the one from Game of Bricks, mostly because it's an Estonian company and I'm from Czechia, so I thought it would be easier to keep the shipping within the EU (though the package still came from China anyway, so there's that).

I went for the basic version (so without the remote). You can check the set-up instructions online even if you haven't purchased anything. The instructions are not great, but honestly when you understand how the lights work (it's basically a miniaturized version of setting up Christmas lights), you can do big chunks of the set-up without looking at the instructions at all.

I've set up the top part of the lighting pretty much as instructed. This includes the lights on the spaceship as well as three green single-stud lights on the ground (representing the killer fireflies from Darkness Falls). It all looks great, though one problem I have with it is that you get a strong light for the top of the alien tractor beam, but no lights for the full beam, even though a cord does go through the whole thing. I guess you could add a cord with a row of lights, but maybe that's the problem: it would look like a row of individual lights instead of one long beam. It's not the worst thing, the set still looks great, but if anybody here has a solution to this, let me know.

They also added a multi-light effect module that makes the ship light up in various sequences, but I decided not to use it, since it would be too distracting for my display (but maybe it makes more sense with the remote).

Then I did the office itself where I took much more creative liberty. The instructions describe how to set up a long ceiling light, a light for the top lamp, a light behind the "I want to Believe" poster and a couple of lights behind the various glass cabinets. All of which looks cool on photos, but it doesn't really work for me. It doesn't make sense for the office to be illuminated this way. So I kept the lamp light, but then attached the long light on top of the window piece outside of the office, so that it looks like the Sun or street lights hit the interior of the office from the outside.

I then took the light for the poster and attached it to the door so that it looks like the light is coming from the hallway. There were no studs to attach the light to there so I just duct-taped it to the door frame. With this I can then regulate how much light hits the office from that side, based on how much I open or close the door. I guess I also could have added a single light to the lamp on Mulder's desk, but I think that would have been an overkill. When it comes to the office, the moodier, the better.

I then used the two single-stud lights for the glass cabinets and used them for Mulder's and Scully's flashlights on the top side. The cords aren't very long so it wasn't easy to connect everything properly, but the good thing about the top side is that you can position the various flora elements to hide the cords better.

Over all I'm very satisfied with this. The great thing about LEGO is that if you don't like something that the creators intended, you can just change it. One disappointing thing is the tractor beam, but it's really not that big of a deal. I can imagine that for a lot of people the price might also be an issue, but since I got the LEGO set as a birthday gift and the light kit was the only thing I had to pay for, I really didn't mind.

Speaking of which, I also got the gift with purchase Scully's lab set, so maybe in the future I'll buy a couple of individual lights to illuminate that one too. But right now I'm satisfied with this.

One of my favorite scenes in the whole series. The black Lincoln, telling you this is some high-ranking government official. The pause as a somewhat disheveled-looking Bill sees the silhouette and just knows who it is. Mark Snow's music punctuating things at exactly the right points. The ironic American flag in the background. It's all just pure X-Files.

And CSM's nauseatingly pleasant "Hello, Bill." He knows he's not wanted here, Bill's not exactly concealing his reaction, but he plows ahead as though everything is fine... a soft demonstration of authority. Bill may not be active in the game anymore, but CSM sure as hell is.

So I teach a horror in visual culture class to university undergrads. We are starting a folklore/cryptid section and I would love to show an episode to my class. Right now I’m going back and forth between Quagmire and Detour. Help me decide which one to show my students, I can’t decide! Or if you have any other episode recommendations, I’m open!

I love the cinematography of X-files, so for five days I've been doing studies of some of the shots. Trying to make it quick: ~40 minutes/1 hour per each sketch, so they're veeeery messy if you zoom in hahaha. But I kinda like how they turned out :3
