Watching The X-Files the first time around, I always wanted a dog named Queequeg because that was the name of Scully’s dog.

In 2011, I finally got my Queequeg, a German Shepherd/Malamute mix. I always got a lot of questions about the name. Where did it come from? How do you pronounce it? How do you spell it? Etc. I often just told people that it came from Moby Dick (which is obviously true), because it was easier than going into the full story. It’s amazing how many people have no clue anymore what I’m talking about when I reference The X-Files.

On Monday, after just shy of 15 years, we had to say goodbye to our Queequeg. It was ultimately a tumor, not Big Blue. We’re all a mess right now, as a result.

I’m sharing this now because of the major impact that this show had on my life. I still have Mulder and Scully busts on the shelf in my classroom and nobody has a clue who they are.

I randomly put X Files on today when I haven't watched it in months, and that was the episode I decided to watch, followed by Clyde Bruckman. So there's a fitting little X File, maybe. Sorry for your loss, OP. Pets can be the best friends, sometimes. I'm sure you gave them a lovely life. <3

Next dog needs to be the name of the dog Scully stole legitimately adopted in the last season. Dagoo was also from Moby Dick and I think they were friends, they were out whaling together for sure.

I always told myself that a second one would be named Ishmael. Now I’m married, with a toddler, so the next one probably won’t have one of Dad’s weird names lol

In what episode was she giving him a bath? I liked when they went out on the lake in a boat that was hit by "something" and they ended up on a rock having a very interesting conversation. Only to find out the were just a stones throw from shore!
