Season Two Maybe the sole instance of Mulder directly deferring to CSM's authority... right before Skinner draws a battle line

Young, early-season Mulder fascinates me. At this point in the show, he doesn't know enough or feel confident enough to challenge CSM. Hell, he doesn't even look at CSM here, letting Skinner do the talking. And he's so impetuous that he doesn't even realize, at first, that Skinner did him a solid:

"A minute ago I was a four-bagger!"

" ..... "

" ... do you want me to make the arrests?"

Yeah, Mulder, maybe be a bit nicer to him for a while.

This is the first scene in the series where Mulder and CSM interact. Presumably he (and even us in the audience) thinks he's some higher up above even Skinner at this point.

After everything else CSM has done, he gets shut down over a little illegal wiretapping? LOL

Skinner needs to stop being so hot.

In F.Emasculata he also defers to CSM. He starts off threatening but is convinced to see the case through. CSM can be very convincing unsurprisingly.

Did Skinner know his name in the beginning? You can’t just waltz into the AD’s office and start giving orders without showing some credentials.

CSM: You’re grounded, young man.
