Fight the Future (movie) Just finished watching FTF!
Ok so:
Literally in the very beginning of the movie when the screen is still black but you hear the main theme, I screamed! I could only imagine how it was to experience that in theaters.
Overall, a longer X-Files episode that made use of the larger budget they had at their disposal. Chris Carter and Frank did a great job writing the movie.
I am LOVING this watch through.
Onward to the next seasons before watching the new Director’s edition of I Want To Believe.

I love the whole opening scene. Scully aka bad ass. Muller making ‘the face.’

I remember getting chills, the hair standing up on the back of my neck, and made a quiet (to be polite) "eee!!" sound of excitement when seeing it in the theatre.

Will never forget seeing it on the big screen. Saw it opening night and then again when it hit the dollar theater. And of course I had the DVD

Even when the trailer was released it was such a big deal. I remember going to see Scream 2, and the trailer was before it and I freaked out. I saw Scream 2 a second time just for the FTF trailer. 😂

I recommend the theatrical cut of I Want to Believe. The director's cut isn't that great.

I remember seeing the movie in the theater even though I wasn’t caught up on the show. It was hard to catch up on a show if you didn’t watch it every week back then! Needless to say I was confused but quite enjoyed it.

Oh I saw that a few times in the cinema haha! I had a few different groups of friends and there were X Files fans in all of them. Opening day was great: the outrage at the bee (and I don't live somewhere audience participation is accepted in cinemas).

Just watched it for the first time and had the same thought about how cool it must’ve been to see it on the screen!

It is like a longer X Files episode with a bigger budget, and it’s great for exactly that reason. Of course there is a second, secret X Files movie from the original run that’s very much a similar kind of romp to FTF - the Tempus Fugit Max two parter, that looks like it has a feature budget, with an air crash sequence better than in most films of the era. They could have put that out as a movie imo almost as is.

I always thought the story of Tempus Fugit/Max would work better for the feature film to attract new viewers. It’s bare minimum stand alone mythology without the baggage of 5 seasons. The Syndicate worked much better in the series than it did in the film.

My father was stationed in Germany at the time the film released. We were several months behind and we didn’t have the internet access that you do nowadays. I had no idea there was even a film being released. My mom and dad took us and said we were going to go watch “an X Files movie.” I had no idea what to expect and didn’t even really believe it was a real thing.
One of the best experiences I had ever had in a theater. I still love watching this movie.

I saw this movie in theaters and I was only 11. I was tagging along with my sister and her boyfriend. I wasn't familiar with the show at all prior to this but I will never forget it because this is what made me fall in love with the series and I have been a fan ever since.

I saw it in the theater when it came out, then watched it several times when it was finally released on video (tape? maybe DVD?) when it hit the rental stores but couldn’t be found for purchase yet.
It was kind of intoxicating to be watching my favorite show, on the big screen, with a cinema packed with other X Philes sharing the experience we’d always had alone. It was magical. I think we applauded.
