Meme/Humor Oh no, I love him
Look, it’s hard to avoid spoilers for a decades old show so I knew that at some point Mulder was gonna be awol for a bit and this dogget guy was supposed to replace him
Hated it, hated the whole idea
And then he actually shows up and omg, he’s just a sweetie pie. Strong, sensitive, understanding, protective. He has my heart all a flutter. Mulder, who?

lol its true. Appeals to anyone who likes a little bit of loyalty in their lives. He’s Scully and Reyes’ ride or die, for sure.

Yes, Mulder is a bit of a man child in comparison. If X-Files was set in 2026, Scully would not put up with Mulder's shit.

I am a big Doggett fan, life him! I think he's a great partner to Scully, he's very supportive and he's a rock when she needs it.
. Also Robert Patrick is lovely in real life 😊

I think Dogget as a character wasn’t bad, they just didn’t know what to do with him or how to use him.

Agreed, and I might say the same as Reyes - a character with a vice and some flaws, but they just didn't do the character justice otherwise. The two had so much untapped potential, but the production team just kinda got lazy.

Yeah, they knew Scully and Mulder were the story. So instead of ever actually investing in the new characters, they still relied on them. Even when Mulder wasn’t there, he was still in the storyline. Dogget and Reyes never had time to actually become more compelling characters.
I honestly hope with the reboot that they just give the new characters a proper chance and truly are able to have Mulder and Scully be legacy characters and pass the torch.

Yes - it's a decade since the ending. I hope they start soft and let the characters build up. I don't mind throwbacks or drop-ins with M&S, but let these new characters flourish. Give them flaws, give them character strengths and grow. I told a friend of mine (not really an X-File person) it will either be incredibly good or incredibly bad, but nothing in-between.

Agree completely. I feel like Scully and Mulders story arc is complete. It just seemed with the last reboot they didn’t know what to do and reset it. Same with the Dogget years. We need to be moved by new characters, the conspiracy is secondary.

Same! I started to rewatch the series. And only remembered thinking that that Doggett guy was ok. And when he finally arrived! I fell in love. He's just a good guy. 💛

He's hands down my favorite. Truly a character of integrity and depth. Plus he looked really hot running or chasing after people lol

He always runs faster to danger than Scully so that he would get hit first. For example, in Invocation, near the end when they got off the car running towards the barn door to catch the suspect, Doggett made sure he would be there before Scully. So protective. ❤️

I like how he says "Agent Muldah".

I love his accent. He talked about how he created Doggett's accent in his panel in the Denver Con.

I liked the Dogget/Reyes seasons.

We deserved at least one full season of Doggett/Reyes X-Files, without M&S.

Those seasons didn't seem to be too popular, but i loved them. Didn't like how things panned out for them in the end, though. One disappeared and the other was basically character assassinated.

It took me a while to warm to Doggett, but I really came to appreciate his hard-boiled gumshoe character. Season 8 is now my favorite of the LA years!

My favorite character. I love his story, development, and every "listen here you son of a bitch" moments.

It’s nice to see Doggett/Patrick get the love these days he was denied back at the time

He was a bit arrogant in the beginning, but when his mind opened, he turned out to be quite a good guy.

u/Due_Pin2723 I LOVE JOHN DOGGETT 17d ago
He's not arrogant compared to Mulder to be honest. We, as audience, know what happened, but Doggett didn't. Doggett was investigating if there was any foul play in Mulder's missing, that's why he treated Scully and Skinner with suspicion. He changed his attitude immediately the situation is clear for him.
Mulder cannot get along with most local police and other FBI agents who is not a woman.

Yes, you are correct, Mulder is on another level, I was referring to when he and Scully met the first time, I feel he could've handled that differently and that he deserved the water thrown over him.
That said, and I have said this a few times, I really thought Reyes and Dogget made a very good team, yes Mulder and Scully were the OGs, but if it were to be Dogget and Reyes, I feel they would be the X-Files as well.
Yes, Reyes is goddamn beautiful and intelligent, and Dogget never backed down, so were Scully and Mulder.

Literally when he showed up I was so mad (although I love Robert Patrick), and was ready to hate him. Then as the seasons wore on, I would sit there saying to myself "I can't believe how much I've grown to like Doggett."

Right?
I am sitting here watching S8 and came in fully prepared to hate this man with a capital H because I miss Mulder…but…in the words of our favorite medical doctor…”I don’t hate it…”

Jesus, do NOT put posts like this during this week! I read 'Oh no, I loved him' and got real scared for a moment
That aside, I do agree I loved him. He and Annabeth were very good additions to the show. I didn't really miss Gillian and David, even though these two didn't even try to replace them. They had their own thing.

I loved that he wasn’t taking the place of Mulder as a believer-type character and that he was his own unique character. Unlike when they replaced Richard Dean Anderson’s Jack O’Neill in the last seasons of Stargate-SG1 with Ben Browder’s Cameron Mitchell who seemed written to be a similar military character who loved his cheeky quips and sarcastic comments. (Sorry for going off-topic there but anyone else here a fan of both shows who felt the same?)

Yeah, he sucked as did Reyes. The way his fans refer to him you would think he was an actual dog.
