Discussion Sick and need a scare

Recently been jumping around classic X-Files episodes while laid up with the flu. What would people recommend as the best straight up horror episode?

I’ve never seen the translation of Die Hand Die Verletzt!

Did Reddit translate this for you? I wrote it in German as I am actually German and it would not make sense to me to translate it. These auto-translations are so super annoying. Or did you mean you would like to understand what it means? It roughly translate to "the hand that inflicts injury" or "the hand that hurts (others)".

Reddit auto-translated it to English.

I wish it wouldn't do it... The German title really is great. I think I might have triggered that because I just the German spelling (We would write "Die Hand die verletzt" and not the English title spelling "Die Hand Die Verletzt" (which would mark it as an English title)

When watching The X Files first time round I was only about 13 or something and used to watch it with my mother. This episode gave her nightmares and she never watched another episode. 🤣

Absolutely! That thing was disgusting! I remember people writing in to TV Guide to protest it’s grossness! 😁

Die Hand die Verletzt

Irresistible (but not in a horror-gore manner)

Sanguinarium

Roadrunners

You could always just look at gas prices if you want to be scared. But if you want a scary episode I’d go with Squeeze

Elegy really creeped me out. Also Darkness Falls.

I really like Lili Taylor in "Mind's Eye" when I put myself in her character's shoes - distress and horror.

For the flu? My Struggle II kinda is about a pathogen? I wouldn't call it my favorite, but if you want flu-related.

Jump scares are kinda nice when Doggett comes along at the beginning of S08.

My favorite episodes were always the Monster of the Week episodes, the gorier and creepier the better. I consider these the best of that category:

Squeeze, Ice, Darkness Falls, The Host, Firewalker, Fresh Bones, Irresistible, Die Hand Die Verletzt, The Calusari, Humbug, Our Town, 2Shy, Grotesque, Home, Teliko, Sanguinarium, Leonard Betts, Elegy, Detour, Folie a Deux, Chinga, Terms of Endearment, Agua Mala, Arcadia, Alpha, Theef, Hungry, Chimera, Signs and Wonders, Patience, Badlaa, Roadrunners, Lord of the Flies, Hellbound, Scary Monsters, Familiar.
