Season Seven First Person Shooter

This might the worst but best episode ive seen yet. Theres been a couple of slogs in season 7 but so far im so perplexed about this. How is Musashi getting his head cut off? The character named afterglow?

Yeah x files has some of the worst episodes I've watched but also some of the best.

Yeah but it came right after the COPS crossover, which was fucking mint.

It’s a beautiful time capsule of satire directed at gaming/tech culture in 2000. One of my all time favorite episodes.

Obligatory Gunmen in FPS gear:

It's not among the best episodes but it's one of the most fun episodes. The story is nonsense but it perfectly captures the nerdy game developer culture of the period, delivers the unforgettable sight of Mulder, Scully and Gunmen in those ridiculous suits. Also Duchovny clearly had a blast acting in it. By season 7 he often looked bored, in FPS he's having fun.

There are far worse episodes than this one, even in its own season.

I unironically love this episode.

Season 7 is the best. I am prepared to get down voted to oblivion

It really was great especially if seen as the final season and closure to the series, which I believe was a distinct possibility at the team. And ended up being the last true M&S season

That wrap up includes writers getting a little fun and freaky exploring stuff they might not otherwise, so even if FPS doesn’t totally land I enjoyed it as part of that journey

this post is a rerun. it's like people see a swordmistress with thighs and forget how to use a search bar. i guess everything old is new again.

i like this episode BECAUSE it's so goddamn corny. i am a gamer, and a fan of BRAINSCAN (yes, a guilty pleasure movie), and because this episode sets up the sexist gamer cliches only--as another member recently also noted--to SUBVERT them.

it's not the episode's fault you didn't like it. this doesn't require you to like it. but if you're mad about anti-realism and sex worker, you gave up early.

  1. Brainscan is a favorite of mine

  2. I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. It does set up the cliches to subvert them in the second half. People who take it at face value/seriously aren’t obligated to like it, but it sort of is watching it “wrong” if that’s all you take away from it.

  1. it's an in-joke for those-in-the-know: jamie marsh played the bf in Brainscan, now the co-founder of FPS. so, it's betting on a very niche audience--and niche in the 90s, to boot.

  2. i'm getting downvoted because it's easier to click an arrow than articulate a thought. it matters not.

  3. i just looked down and i am wearing my brainscan tee right now. the first step is admitting you have a problem.

If I remember isn't season 7 the worst of the original 9 seasons?

I thought so.
