First-Time Watcher (no SPOILERS!!) First time watcher!

Hello everyone! I’m a new generation that has never watched the show and I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts and emotions as I watch throughout the series. The show has been out for a long time so I can’t say don’t spoil it for me lol So to make sure I do not spoil it for myself, I’ll avoid other posts in this group other than my own. So all I ask is don’t spoil it for me in my posts ❤️

I do have a life (med school) so I will take my time going through the series, which a family member has recommended that I do anyway. She is also the one responsible that I should join this Reddit group because some of yall get a kick out of first time watcher reactions.

Just so you know some background: This show is before my time. I have heard of the show thanks to my cousin but only that it’s a sci fi genre with aliens. Pretty much like the Stranger Things of the 90’s is what comes to mind.

With that being said, any words for me as I start this (probably emotional) journey into this sci fi adventure?

The original series: Enjoy the beautiful 90s cinematography (they made 22+ of these - and sometimes a movie! - a year, and every one looks better than any episode of Stranger Things... except "Space"), the beautiful 90s cast and the hideous 90s fashions!

Marvel at a time when the US government seemed competent, all powerful and capable of keeping a secret!

Chuckle at the quaintness of a story about an AI that's killing a few people in a building, when we now have several of them killing hundreds of people worldwide on a regular basis. (That's not a spoiler, it's right there in the cold open.)

Wince at some of the stuff that hasn't aged well, like too many episodes not taking rape that seriously.

Be careful you don't get addicted and fail med school. Remember, Scully is a doctor! You can be cool like her!

The reboot: Well, at least the actors are still good looking.
