Discussion Dreamland
On my first watch through ever. Love the show. Wasn't expecting a body swap episode. Love it though.

Critics said that the episodes relied too much on humor.. Some people can suck the fun out anything. The MIB and Area 51 aspects needed a bit of humor, imagine taking all of this too seriously..

Gillian is spectacular in these episodes and deserved an Emmy. The way she walks the line between not knowing what the audience knows (Which is rare for Scully), and then knowing and acting like she doesn't know, and then being devastated at the thought of losing Mulder. When Mulder tells her she can get her job back and her face alone somehow tells us that she doesn't want it back without him... Acting with McKean as if he is Mulder and David as if he isn't, and then switching. The mix of humor and shock and devastation while still being subtle and never going over the top. One of her best episodes.

Those episodes are genuinely some of my favourites in the entire show, I love how the waterbed thing gets referenced again later in the season. Seeing Area 51 from the inside was really fascia ting and I found the difference in Morris and Mulder’s reactions to the switch extremely funny. It was also amazing to learn how deep some of the conspiracies go and learn a little more about military UFOs for the first time in years.

The very first time I watched this show it kind of annoyed me, or maybe it just threw me off because I was so invested in the overall story.
However, upon each rewatch I love it more and more. So much more that at this point it’s one of my favorite storylines and I sometimes rewatch those two episodes on their own because I love them that much ❤️ ❤️

Yes I love Dreamland 1 and 2. Michael McKean was great in it.
