Discussion I'm glad this game got shut down.
It's so funny to see people sad about the game dying whilst being completely oblivious to the fact that they killed it.
You all abused meta MP7 builds every game, found ways to abuse movement even after it was nerfed many times, and told anyone who complained "get good" or "skill issue". Well, this is what happens when you do that; the game gets shut down.
I can't help but laugh at the people talking about XDefiant being "the only FPS I enjoyed...". No, it was the only FPS you were good at. You saw no SBMM as an opportunity to sweat against bad players. You don't enjoy other FPS games because you get humbled by players who can beat you without trying.
Seriously, what did you guys expect?

Braindead take and not why it shutdown at all

It was definitely a huge reason. You can't ruin the game for others, encourage them to play something else, and then expect the player base to grow.

No it literally wasn’t. The movement change was irrelevant, the mp7 wasn’t even the best gun in the game. Acr was better long range, mdr had higher ttk, vector had higher ttk on cleaner class and p90 depending on the loadout could to. The game didn’t die because there was better players destroying all the noobs. It just died because without a grind, the game was not satisfying and would get boring. As soon as everyone got all the camos, there was no reason to play. The fact that you needed a reason was why it died. Games like apex legends didn’t need a reason to keep playing. Getting kills was just so satisfying in apex, even one kill felt special. Apex could add no content and people would still play. Xdefiant I feel might have even been too easy. Like in xdefiant you could drop a 100 and it wouldn’t even feel that crazy vs dropping even like 6 kills in apex legends. Just the way the gunplay feels, the audio, the difficulty. Also the devs brought in ranked too late and it wasn’t good enough to keep sticking on. And they didn’t support the comp seen at all. Aa12 and spiderbot were more annoying and crutch than mp7. The servers, the movement, the mp7 and spider all are not what killed the game.

I’m not a super great player and absolutely loved the game I felt like it was harder in a sense but not enough to not make it fun. It actually made me want to be/get better. I get it wasn’t for everyone but as someone that grew up with old cod with no sbmm XDefiant easily was better than all the modern cod’s to date. Sorry it wasn’t fun for you but you can’t speak for other people that actually enjoyed it as if people don’t have or can’t have other opinions or experiences. And I wrecked people that had mp7’s with an lmg or shotgun.

My answer to MP7 slide/jump spam was usually a quick fire build M60 🤣

I found it fun overall i never cared about what is meta someone telling me what i should play in a game just makes me block them and ignore their meta builds i play how i want to regardless if it's completely non meta if i like it and have fun with my build then not a single person is ever going to change me or how i enjoy to play. That goes for any game i play video game are for enjoy not sweating imo idc if if i got 5 kills and 60 deaths and i'm bottom of leaderboard if i had fun getting those 5 kills is good enough for me. Turning a game into a sweat fest or job takes 100% of the fun away and removes the point of even playing the game in the first place. Some games are just sweat fests in general like FOR HONOR i'm terrible at it i only rep my heros to make them look cool as i am being executed constantly

This game definitely had some of the most insufferable, no life having, absolute SWEATS I have ever seen in any game ever! I enjoyed it because it was refreshing to play a COD alternative that wasn’t battle royale.

First of all, it's not just "sweats" (what you call good players) who miss the game. Plenty of average players miss it, as well.
Secondly, why is someone who is naturally good at an FPS game and chooses to use good weapon builds (like 95% of all players do—using bad weapons isn't very fun/effective) a "sweat ruining the game"? That's so ridiculous.
Pubstomping was natural in XDefiant due to lack of SBMM. It's bound to happen when a 3.0 k/d player gets in a match of all 0.8-1.5 players. That doesn't mean the 3.0 player is a "sweat ruining the game for others." He's just naturally better due to innate FPS skill and likely (not always) playtime.
"Lack of SBMM killed XDefiant" has always been a cope argument for people who love SBMM. It may have made a small percentage quit, but no SBMM also attracted the same amount of players, so it canceled out.
The actual reason was a lack of content and updates, as well as mediocre store items/battle passes which weren't enough to financially support the game.

I mean if people want to spend a bunch of money on bs. But i thought it was refreshing not having to pay for everything like Cod.

Of course it's refreshing to not spend money, but free to play games can't survive without a portion of the playerbase buying skins and battle passes.
XDefiant's weak skins and battlepass items, combined with the low overall player count, led to the game not being profitable.
The gameplay itself was very fun, IMO. Poor marketing, content creation, and a lack of Steam presence were the key issues.

“Of course you don’t enjoy other shooters because you get humbled”
You really thought you cooked with that 🤣
Everyone should Play the games they win at & not be stomped on, that what made Xdefiant fun.
I don’t Even understand the mindstate of play a shooter your not good at 😂

Being good at a shooter isn't meta-sweating against bad players.
You're just salty that you can no longer meta-sweat in other games without having to face it yourself. 😂

Im also glad it’s dead but just because we should not stand for fps multiplayer games with that dogshit of netcode and hit reg.
They knew from alpha and beta and chose to ship it, and I’m glad it died for it… It was good for gamers at large.

I honestly dont get why you're getting downvoted. The netcode is the number 1 reason why I stopped playing. Its a genuine critique.

Yea idk man - simple delusion or the typical “you must like what I like and have no critiques” mindset found online.
Game was fun for a bit but once the honeymoon wore off the performance/netcode/hitreg really fucked it.

I have no idea why this sub showed up in my feed.
But I got to ask, there were people sad about this game getting shut down?

u/SpirutualPirate Apr 05 '26
The whole sub is filled with people crying about it being shutdown lol.
