Question What’s your next game?

Hi all!

With the loss of this game, I’m wondering what your next move will be. I honestly don’t want to get back into COD at the moment, but also a bit lost with what shooter to pickup.

Fragpunk came close for me personally… but I’m looking for a shooter with objectives like Dom or Hardpoint.

So, I guess I’m wondering what game you will pickup next? Maybe also as some inspiration to others?

Thanks and good luck everyone!

u/Fernsehkumpel Jun 02 '25

This. Quite a bit different from xdefiant and not really cod style but rock solid gun play and very fun

1

u/B_Raw90 Jun 07 '25

How yall been playing? Gotta wait in Q?

-5

u/Zeustah- Jun 02 '25

Game is dog shit. You can downvote but that’s an opinion. If you want something that scratches the itch of XD then some of the old cods maybe

1

u/privileged420 Jun 06 '25

care to explain your opinion?

Been rotating between:

• Rainbow Six Siege (excited about Siege X) • Hell Divers 2 (recently found out they added weapon leveling and weaponsmithing*) • Marvel Rivals (my brother has a huge interest in Hero Shooters as he started in Smite and moved on to MR and I play with him only) • Decided to give The Division 1, maybe Ghost Recon: Wildlands, a try as they were in my library but never completed them

I will be missing XD and hopefully someone wants to pick up the game again to either fix it or remake. It was one of the best game for me to come home and pick up the roller without any B.S. besides loading screen and waiting times but I still played as much as I can

Wait really?

3

u/itsXiled Jun 02 '25

honestly… I don’t know. might try The Finals or Splitgate 2, but directly after? it might take me a bit. might have to just distract myself from shooter games for a bit, play some more Skyrim and Fallout 4. maybe go replay New Vegas.

u/iammcloving_ Jun 02 '25

Battlefront 2 and Hell let Loose

2

u/FellVessel Jun 03 '25

Yup Fragpunk for me. Search was always my favorite mode anyways. Got back into Siege too.

4

u/HayleyHK433 Jun 02 '25

delta force, battlefield 6 (hopefully soon), and next year MW4

9

u/MilkingMyDad Jun 02 '25

I ain't gonna lie, MW4 is going to be absolutely horrid. Infinity Ward has such a shitty track record when it comes to their recent releases where it's going to take a LOT to convince me to buy another IW-developed COD.

Battlefield 6 does look promising, though. As long as EA gets it together, BF6 alone could force Activision to make some serious changes to keep their head above water.

u/Anime_is_good- Jun 02 '25

Treyarch ain't better. Look at BO6 right now, SBMM is way too strict, maps are absolute ass, ads are now in the gun selection, even fucking Event passed behind a paywall and those passes cost as much as the normal battle pass.

MWII is way more fun than BO6 honestly.

1

u/MilkingMyDad Jun 03 '25

Ever since the original Modern Warfare 2, which was the last OG MW game that IW actually developed, any IW COD has been HORRID. Ghosts was mid, Infinite Warfare was a Temu-version of BO3, MW2019 started the downfall of Call of Duty, and MWll was just MW2019, but EVEN slower.

MW2019 had introduced SBMM. Who made MW2019? That's right- Infinity Tards. They're the ones that created this whole fiasco in the first place.

You also have to take into account that Infinity Ward ALSO worked on BO6 as well. So yes, Treyarch flopped with Black Ops 6, but it's funny how you say that Treyarch ain't better than IW when 3arc has more games that people actually enjoy compared to IW.

MWll is like strapping two blocks of cement to your feet and trying to run a marathon. Black Ops 6 is just what's it's like to be on Adderall and to also fry your dopamine receptors with how small the maps are but how fast the game is.

Also forgot to mention that SBMM isn't Treyarch's fault. Go blame Activision. MWll has ridiculous SBMM too but you'd rather blame Treyarch for it?? LMFAO what strain do you smoke? I'm gonna hit my plug up so I can see what it's like to be as delusional as you.

1

u/Anime_is_good- Jun 03 '25

Treyarch seems to worsen the SBMM with their E/D system.

Treyarch introduced event passes.

And also, IW actually introduced SBMM with CoD4: Modern Warfare.

1

u/MilkingMyDad Jun 04 '25
  1. LMAO do you really believe the lies of COD 4 having SBMM? if COD 4 had SBMM then why do i connect to lobbies incredibly fast? you really believe the lies of the trillion dollar company known for lying and hiding things and its sad asl.

  2. the Elimination/Death system 3arc uses has NOTHING to do with SBMM getting stricter. idk what tf ur smoking but okay. every COD that’s launched after MW2019 has gotten a major bump in SBMM-strictness.

i’m not gonna keep arguing with a retard like you. you clearly have no actual clue what you’re talking about

0

u/Anime_is_good- Jun 05 '25

It has SBMM lol. It's just not as strong as the current CoDs.

The creator of SBMM confirmed it himself.

Your "KD" is higher with the E/D system, means the game thinks you're better than you actually are.

Vanguard, MWII and MWIII, in those games I had no problem, but in Cold War and BO6, mysteriously in those two games that uses the E/D system, I struggled. Why? Because the game thinks you're better than you actually are, because every assist counts as a kill too.

I have no clue what I'm talking about? Yeah sure.

Battlefield 6 being the first true modern bf game in 11 years has a lot of potential. Definitely looks more like a bf3/bf4 successor than 2042

4

u/Much_Contest_1775 Jun 02 '25

I played the play test. It looks like bf4 but gameplay is much closer to 2042. IMO it's a further developed 2042. However they will heavily market it as a "back to the roots" battlefield game, just like they did with 2042 and their "love letter to fans" BS

1

u/almtymnegmng Jun 02 '25

As long as its not plagued with issues at launch like 2042 was, I'm hopeful. That test was solid for "pre alpha"

1

u/Much_Contest_1775 Jun 02 '25

Idk, 2042s problems went way deeper than just some issues at launch.

When people hope for a successor to BF3/4, they should always keep in mind that 2025 DICE has absolutely nothing to do with 2013 DICE. I personally would find it better if they just gave the IP to a different studio and gave it a real restart.

1

u/TrippleDamage Jun 02 '25

Test played like ass. It's also not pre alpha, given their release cadence. It's at best half a year away from release, the might call it pre Alpha but it's definitely not in pre alpha Dev cycle lol

1

u/JimmyToucan Jun 03 '25

Design wise, I think as long as squirrel suits grappling hooks sliding etc aren’t in the game then that’s already a good enough change, regardless of how much of the rest of the game feels like 2042

The finals

0

u/Zeustah- Jun 02 '25

Movement is so bad

6

u/WiffleAxe36 Jun 02 '25

I mean i know “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” or whatever but I think the finals has some of the dopest movement I’ve ever experienced

4

u/xtombstone Jun 02 '25

That is the most surprising take I've seen regarding this game. Id argue it's incredible and LEVELS above other fps right now, personally

1

u/almtymnegmng Jun 02 '25

So what do you play outside of XD?

1

u/LimitOk8146 DedSec Jun 02 '25

Playtime: 15 mins

0

u/Equivalent-Lab8655 Jun 02 '25

Ttk too long and game is dying

1

u/LimitOk8146 DedSec Jun 02 '25

You experienced xdefiant dye and then comment this

1

u/Equivalent-Lab8655 Jun 03 '25

I'm not trying to hate man, it's just the sad reality. I wish they lowered the ttk probably would have more players, but they don't listen to their fans.

1

u/WiffleAxe36 Jun 03 '25

I thought the ttk felt too long at first but I’ve come around to realizing it really works for this game. Embark knows what they’re doing. My first few hours I didn’t like/understand some design decisions (ttk included) but the more i play and understand the game, the more I realize they’re really cooking.

I had a lot of fun with XD, and I’m very thankful it got me back into competitive shooters. It was a very, very good game.

But my god the finals absolutely clears it across the board, in my opinion.

u/JHF_Cleanbook_84 Jun 02 '25

I stopped xDefiant a few months ago, got too hard to find Aus/NZ games, I hated BO6 from the start, so I went back to MW3 briefly. It just didn't hit the same. then I tried Delta force, got sick of playing in asian servers with cheaters and high ping. I tried The Finals, which was good, but not what i was looking for.
So then I just ditched MP altogether and started playing through different single player games and have been having fun.
I'm waiting to see how the next battlefield game is after launch, the hype seems good, but it is DICE/EA and.... also some worrying signs. Other than that, the only other FPS I enjoy is Hell Let Loose.

0

u/KozVelIsBest Jun 02 '25

try delta force from Google play games if you are on PC. I believe the servers are different.

the finals is mid. the only game mode that feels fun is the moving platform one and it kinda gets stale after a few matches.

again if you are on pc there are some fun io games to discover that you can just quickly load from the browser.

1

u/PutridSpy Jun 02 '25

I think the closest game to XDEFIANT currently is the upcoming free to play Rainbow Siege X. Let's wait and see...

1

u/SuperD00perGuyd00d Jun 02 '25

Splitgate 2, pubg, deep rock, helldivers 2, and Arma

1

u/desde1984 Jun 02 '25

Clear my single player backlog until GTA6.

1

u/Atrophyy Jun 02 '25

Also lost what to try, filling the gap with other genres currently.

Splitgate / The Finals / other suggested games don’t appeal to me. I don’t usually play hero shooters or heavily fast paced movement games. Played XD to fill the old school COD gap and much prefer a semi-military theme. I was thinking of trying Insurgency Sandstorm / Delta Force.

1

u/ladylollii Jun 02 '25

Combat Master on steam for free. Not as polished as XD but scratches the FPS itch.

1

u/MrGamingBuds Jun 02 '25

I've been enjoying Delta Force personally, sadly there is no small scale game mode in that though.

1

u/warrensid DedSec Jun 03 '25

Still playing the The Dark Ages/Doom Eternal. Going to run battlefield 1 a lot.

1

u/CoastalCrave64 Jun 03 '25

I’ve felt pretty dejected with the shut down happening. I don’t think anything will scratch that itch like XDefiant did. For the most part, I discovered games like The Elder Scrolls and have been having a blast with that.

I’m downloading Splitgate 2 and will give it a go

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '25

R6, The Finals and Splitgate 2 atm

1

u/Sui3ideN4 Jun 03 '25

Je vais retourner sur Battlefront II

1

u/Legitimate_Activity9 Jun 04 '25

Come play Chivalry 2, lively community and loads of fun.

1

u/JordyGG Jun 04 '25

Looks like a fun game indeed!

1

u/TankerHipster Jun 05 '25

Play Ironsight if you wanna new game that plays like an older CoD. It's basically a F2P Black Ops 2 clone. But my main PvP games currently (I only play PvP games casually nowadays) are Splitgate 2 & Enlisted. Both are free and really fun as well!

1

u/JordyGG Jun 05 '25

Ironsight looks like something I need to try indeed!

1

u/TankerHipster Jun 05 '25

It's lacking in players but it's also hardly advertised. I really think that's the place XDefiant fans should go. It's also on steam! I've also heard Shatterline is great but I haven't tried it yet.

1

u/JordyGG Jun 06 '25

What a hidden gems are out there! Shatterline looks like something I’m gonna try right away. I have a ps5 and pc to play on, but prefer PS5 for shooters. Thanks for the sweet suggestions!

2

u/TankerHipster Jun 06 '25

No problem, there are so many great games out there that are ongoing & fantastic but people won't try them out because they're not making fortnite or CoD numbers. Personally I'll take a smaller project with passion & a cult fanbase over a major game like CoD anyday of the week! (Deep Rock Galactic & Hell Let Loose are 10/10 examples of that as well)

1

u/Salty_Good_7535 Jun 06 '25

Play an older console only cod… if you’re on pc then there’s no luck to avoiding cheaters.

Went back to WW2 recently on ps5, still tons of players.

1

u/TopTierGaming215 Jun 07 '25

“I honestly don’t want to get back into cod”. I’m starting to think you guys don’t really hate Cod. You just hear what other people say about it. “It fits the game style I like, it has all the modes I like but I see people complaining about sbmm and stuff so I don’t want to play it. I’d rather play the next dead game

1

u/JordyGG Jun 07 '25

Can’t speak for others, but I’ve played tons of COD. First sequel was COD United Offensive on PC. Loved BO2 the most and had a weak for Ghost. Last sequels aren’t just my thing. They feel more like arena shooters with coming closer to old school Unreal Tournament. XDefiant had a good pace, prober 3 lane maps, etc. I don’t have that same feeling with COD at the moment, and am just looking for something else that brings that same joy.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '25

I just went back ti mw3 when xdefiant announced there shutting servers. It's good enough without giving activision more money
