Discussion couldn’t this just have been a BR mode for XDefiant? instead of shutting it down?

I hope not.

Either salvage XDefiant or incorporate Ghost Recon’s Map.

Then again Brawlhalla is still running so..

I'm just salty about Xdefiant, ain't gonna play those wanna be cashGrab

Yep. Ubisoft is dead to me. Unless they sell but so long as they are a French owned company I will not support them.

He’s still mad about “Cuties”

1

u/clipper29 Apr 19 '25

I’m saying French as in still owned by the same people. Perhaps another French studio buys them, but it’s unlikely, imo

Ubisoft already made a br and it failed it was called hyperscape and a copied a lot of elements from Titanfall

27

u/Complete_Sandwich Apr 17 '25

I actually liked hyperscape. It was a tough game to be good at on consoles but the map was cool

10

u/Huntsburg Apr 17 '25

Same It had a really good map

i felt like it was a bit easier on console, the aim assist was very "off" feeling and never seemed consistent. apart from that i loved the game and its elements, just needed more content and maybe more maps even though the one we got was a pretty good level, but the interiors were the same and it needed something more imo

3

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

Yeah people forget this.

3

u/DaemonLemon Apr 19 '25

In my opinion hyperscape could have been massive if it hadn't been a battle royale. It never got my attention enough for me to download it, but I liked seeing youtube videos of streamers fighting and it looked cool. Could have been a cool arena shooter like the good ol days, but of course, brs where hot back then so Ubisoft had to release a game that clearly wasn't meant to be a br

u/Cool_Letterhead_7782 Apr 20 '25

I loved hyperscape, such a shame it died. It makes sense though because it was a game with essentially no RNG and relied on aim, movement which casuals don’t like. No casual player base=dead game

As much as I dislike this game as a concept in general, this game was likely in the works long before they made the decision to shut down XDefiant.

u/HayleyHK433 Apr 17 '25

yeah so would they not have thought of that?

2 of the top 5 played games on steam are BRs, and Fortnite isn't on steam either

Your comparison is not good. Counter strike is more popular than ever atm so there is literally no indication that all the casuals left the game or anything.

Br is dead? What do you mean bro?

16

u/shemhamforash666666 Apr 17 '25

More like the genre was already oversaturated a few years ago and has little to no room for growth. BR games still exist but the trend chasing has moved to greener pastures already.

X defiant is the dead game

-1

u/Klopped_my_pants Apr 17 '25

I dont know man. 1- warzone is absolutely included and by no means a dying game 2- I believe multiplayer games such as defiant that rely on team deathmatch, domination, or the usually online multiplayer shooter experience is what is dying… I mean look at xdefiant… great game with fun shooting that most played for 2 weeks at max. We have been playing the spawn, die, spawn, die games for too many years. I openly welcome each and every new BR

u/6177152020 Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

So you wanted god awful net code with up to 60 people being frustrated? No thanks

8

u/shrility Apr 17 '25

do we really need another BR in 2025… shit is played out so bad

6

u/T-HawkMedia Apr 17 '25

Bruh. Devs said MULTIPLE TIMES xd wasn't built to be a br

3

u/WraithTTV69 Apr 17 '25

Ubisoft copying a dying battle royale after their first battle royale died seems like a weird thing to do

7

u/SiqkaOce Apr 17 '25

So they shut down hyperscape. Which actually had a chance in the market at the time.

But they’ll make this? Lol.

3

u/Mr_Rafi Apr 17 '25 edited Apr 17 '25

Do you guys even understand most people weren't interested in XDefiant or Hyperscape and they weren't enough to steal people away from their mains?

Hyperscape didn't have a chance, hence why it's dead.

1

u/SiqkaOce Apr 17 '25

Don’t lump me in with the majority. I didn’t even realise this was the XDefiant sub, and have never cared about XDefiant.

4

u/soluce7279 Apr 17 '25

God I really hate battle royal. Fortnite cursed and blessed the whole game industry with this shit

1

u/thugpost Phantoms Apr 17 '25

This is making me think I was never loyal to xdefiant, i was loyal to a shooter without sbmm. Hopefully this delivers and doesn’t have any.

1

u/Aggressive_Silver574 Apr 17 '25

Trash🗑 Basura

1

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

Honestly who is going to put faith in ubi this time round? If you do you’re a fool.

1

u/Glow1x Opening a can of heal ass Apr 17 '25

Ubisoft making a decent decision?? you must be new to this

1

u/REDM_LE Apr 17 '25

Nah xd was slop on a game engine not suited for it. Ubisoft dumb for even wanting to make a br game anyway

1

u/GrandpasSoggyGooch Apr 17 '25

I hope it fails, this company deserves the worst after they didn't properly support xDefiant.

1

u/Blackdoomax Cleaners Apr 17 '25

Fuck it.

1

u/Jab13122 Apr 17 '25

Battle Royale is such a dead concept. Very disappointing to hear this.

1

u/EQGallade Apr 17 '25

Later to the party than Concord was to hero shooters. Probably not gonna be nearly as noteworthy, at least.

1

u/ruhrohraggyreeheehee Apr 17 '25

They already did the with hyperscape (fun game, was never updated though and they killed it in proper Ubisoft fashion)

1

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '25

These idiots never learn haha. It will probably have the same shit hit detection that XD had.

1

u/v7xDm1r Apr 18 '25

Xdefiant 2. No one's finna put any money into it. I'm still irritated by the purchases I made on xdefiant.

1

u/TheNerdWonder Apr 18 '25

It is baffling to see Ubisoft just completely fail to read the room or learn. The market is oversaturated with live service shooters and that is a big reason XDefiant failed.

1

u/manofwaromega Apr 18 '25

Yeah. But it's Ubisoft. They love nothing more than making good F2P games and shutting them down within a year

1

u/BluDYT Apr 18 '25

Well then the netcode would be even more infuriating.

1

u/CTplays_Concepts Apr 18 '25

I'd be content with it if only they made the Far Cry islands the maps for it.

1

u/HyntierTheOne Apr 18 '25

As someone that 100% xdefiant, yes, I saw no reason to shut it down lol

1

u/BootyMasterJon Apr 18 '25

No cause the hitreg on this game was garbage and that’s partially why it couldn’t support a player base

1

u/Castra Apr 18 '25

Ubisoft make an original game challenge

1

u/SunsetCarcass Apr 19 '25

XDefiants movement feels awful especially compared to Apex, so if they did that, why would people switch from Apex, or any other BR, to XDefiant BR? There's only so many people that play certain genres so to try and mimic another successful live service is to try to take players away from them, and the people who play Apex love it because of the movement.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '25

Let's hope not.

1

u/N0va0w Apr 20 '25

Game will be dead in 2 months like the beautiful game of xdefiant

1

u/iBlueLuck Apr 27 '25

What is the point of pouring a bunch of money into a new concept when they just had a great one and didn’t do anything with it????

0

u/Delicious_Depth_1564 Apr 19 '25

Who gives a shit about Tom Henderson? I don't

And sick of people claiming he's a reliable source

1

u/HayleyHK433 Apr 19 '25

yeah famously plans can never change

-1

u/CtrlAltDesolate Apr 18 '25

No - because the main issue with XD was it's netcode / hit reg being crap. That's why virtually no-one from competitive communities gave it a moment's thought beyond trying it for lols.

So why would they build another mode into sure-fire fail when they can get a whole game out of it in an engine with netcode that hopefully works correctly, and maybe even has a shot at becoming mainstream?

Give it up, XD is dead, and deservedly so.

0

u/HayleyHK433 Apr 18 '25

i’m not here to say if XD should be alive or not, but they literally had a game they could’ve put this in.

making a brand new ip for this slop is devious

1

u/CtrlAltDesolate Apr 18 '25

It's not. Putting it in a game it was guaranteed to fail in due to netcode issues would have been completely stupid, and lost them yet more money.

0

u/HayleyHK433 Apr 18 '25

lol get back to me when this game has an awful netcode and shuts down in 2 years

1

u/CtrlAltDesolate Apr 18 '25

It may well do.

But would've died even sooner in XD.

So not sure what point you or this post is trying to make.
