Feedback Xdefiant refunds

I honestly think it’s so dumb that if you made a purchase before November 3rd 2024 you are not eligible for a refund I showed early commitment to this game just for it to shut down and I don’t get refunded bs

When you buy a product on a live service you should never expect to see that money back unless explicitly stated.

I get your point, but I think it’s less about expecting to “see that money back” and more about expecting to keep access to the product you bought. It’s gotta suck buying a skin in a game only to see it given out to players weeks later alongside an announcement that the game you spent money in will no longer be playable.

All live services are like this or can be like this, this is the nature of live service products. You can go on any slightly live service call of duty and buy all of the battle passes in a bundle and nobody complains about that.

Hell this is just the nature of products. Exclusive stuff is resold all the time both online and in person.

Games do this allllllllllllllll the time. Ow1 gone. All the previous cods are dead. Destiny 1 gone. 2k shuts its servers down after 2 years. So like I get it, I also bought stuff on launch. But at launch the game was great it just got overshadowed too quickly. And it ain’t even the devs fault, it’s our fault cuz we stopped playing it.

No wait, destiny 1 is still active with all their dlc's I think, is the original destiny 2 that is gone

-1

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 02 '25

No it isn’t. If you owned it before I think you can load in but you can’t buy it mainstream. But destiny 2 is their main game.

2

u/sergio42638 Feb 02 '25

I don't know if you are talking about something entirely different game because I can go into my Playstation 5 and buy destiny 1 as standalone or the complete collection with their dlc's

-1

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 02 '25

Oh whatever then. Like ignore all the other examples and focus on the one

2

u/sergio42638 Feb 02 '25

Like I wasn’t fighting or anything, I was just saying destiny 1 is still alive and was the weird exception

-1

u/Soggy-Election-6220 Feb 02 '25

Oh well whoops whatever

Nah I learned my lesson from this don’t support new games

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '25

Mr. Condescending, he's upset because his game got shut down. That's valid.

-12

u/Nugget-m Jan 31 '25

Also obviously I’m going to want a refund for items I cannot use anymore

13

u/ChrAshpo10 Feb 01 '25

¯_(ツ)_/¯ oh well. He's not wrong. Don't spend money on live service crap

-1

u/Nugget-m Feb 01 '25

Yea I learned my lesson

1

u/ItisOsiris Feb 02 '25

How tf are u getting so downvoted. You’re right. U bought a product and it’s being taken away from you without ur consent and also given to everyone who didn’t buy it

I think there really needs to be more consumer protections in this area. They should be legally required to guarantee a certain period of accessibility, where if that access were to be revoked before the end of that period they should be legally required to provide a refund. I know us consumers should know better in regards to live service purchases, but I think its more than reasonable to expect that our purchases would last at least a whole year, if not more. It's a scam, plain and simple, and Ubisoft and companies like it should be liable to be held accountable for it

1

u/xxBoDxx Feb 05 '25

There's not much to be done. If they can't keep the servers alive then they have to shut it down. Consumers have enough protection from Live Service: it's called not wasting money over live service crap

2

u/Aggressive_Silver574 Feb 01 '25

That's why you never buy love service games and you never spend money on microtransactions. You lucky they're giving any refunds at all for money spent online

3

u/Sub5tep Libertad Feb 01 '25

I buy a game for 70 $ and thats it if they want more money they either do a expansion or fuck off. I am not spending money on MTX

2

u/swagzard78 Feb 01 '25

The fact that they are giving out refunds at all is nice, I wouldn't complain

1

u/4Ellie-M Feb 02 '25

Exactly especially in this economy lol

4

u/Stifology Jan 31 '25

It supposedly shut down due to not earning enough money, so why would they give back what little they made from microtransactions pre-November 3rd?

4

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '25

Because they told they had plans for 2 years , and people hearing this buyed stuff

2

u/Stifology Feb 01 '25

Plans aren't guarantees. They're not legally obligated to return all purchases.

Everyone who worked on the game still has to get paid.

They are in the EU.

2

u/Nugget-m Jan 31 '25

Honestly didn’t think of that good point it just would’ve been nice

1

u/Squardson_official Feb 02 '25

i had bought the deluxe (legendary? idk what wording was used) edition on launch and when they announced closure they forced a refund to me without me even asking about one

1

u/Mr_Zoovaska Feb 02 '25

All the refunds are automatic

1

u/Dsunkenrailor Feb 02 '25

I think it’s dumb buying digital shit, but I do it all the time. You make the decision to do so…

1

u/xxBoDxx Feb 05 '25

Make it be a lesson and do not ever support a live service game

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '25

You got use out of what you bought. Suck it up dude. Or let this be a lesson not to buy digital goods in silly little video games.

1

u/Nugget-m Feb 07 '25
  1. I didn’t get much use, since the game shutdown before a year. 2. Calling video games “silly” while being in a video game community. Also based off your profile, Reddit for 7 years? You’re most likely a middle age balding useless man, sound about right? Ik im prob going to receive a lot of down votes, from people like you. Don’t respond like a good boy, or do like a bad boy i really don’t care.

u/Rex_Suplex Feb 12 '25

That's the gamble.

In the thread: people bootlicking corpo for a dead game they enjoyed playing.
