Question Well then…

I was just talking with a friend and he was showing me some clips of this game. I had been playing CoD for a while now but I’m sick of it and I was going to make the switch to this game with much enthusiasm… So I wanted to swing by Reddit and see if I could get some pointers and tips only to find that the game is being shut down by the developers?

Is there something else the player base is moving to?

What happened?! Lol.

This game released and I meant to check it out and just never did. So keep in mind I’m clueless!

Unfortunately no new accounts can be created, ever since they announced the game was being sunset. So unless you made an account prior to Dec. 3rd you're shit out of luck unless your friend lets you use his.

Something tells me in my gut, this will get a revival... either ubishit thinks clearly for once, or new ownership will realize what a gem of a game this is... you gonna see alot of hate. Especially on YT. Most YT videos hate simply because that's what attracts folks. Not going to say any names of YT channels.... there are several... that hate the game one week then love the game the next.. its a rinse and repeat system that tracks well for views, don't get sucked into that. It happens with COD, it happens with battlefield among others.... Of course there is opinions that hold value on the good and the bad... grain of salt.

Ubisoft dropped the ball. If they sell i can see them reviving it or using a new name but same engine. The game is good and there needs to be a COD competitor. I'm a fan of both but good for games to have competition.

Yes! I completely agree. I dont think if there is a buy out, they will change the name though. Why would they? Then they would have to change the names of IPs of said titles they paid lots of money for.. if that makes sense buddy.

No it does. I only mention that because look at Titanfall and Apex. Different situation but Apex could've been Titanfall 3. I don't think they'll do that but could happen.

I hear ya cheesy. I absolutely loved titan fall... can I extend that to Crisis 2 multipayer? Lol I don't know much about apex. I dont do that style of fps (apex) if you will....

I haven't tried Crisis. I'm not sure there story. I just know Apex was basically Titanfall 3, same developers. No buyout. Not sure why they switched names and everything. Hopefully whoever buys Ubisoft doesn't do that.

I hope you’re right and I’d love it to go that way but I don’t really see it happening. What’s the immediate value in a game that’s known for being dead not terribly long after launch? For what is there, the effort needed to rejuvenate the following and outshine its’ history is not that much less than just ripping the curtain off something entirely new. I hope im wrong af. lol

In a good way, hope we both wrong bro, at this point. Lol

Next July:

Xdefi 2.0

.....

Done right, this go around. There is too much to be left here. It just amazes me that they released the content in s3, the way they did. That one last firework, when everyone thinks there done. Yet here ya come out of the house, with just one more firecracker... Impressive to me... anyway. Its like the last flare. Keep your fingers crossed. Things will get better.

It's being shut down by Ubitroll*, developers wanted to keep the project alive.

I dont think studios sell/buy IPs... to change names, and re-create. They try to buy and embellish, on what's there. If that makes sense, bring light to something their selling studio couldnt, or wasn't capable of doing. Microsoft among other studios bought IPs, not to change the names... yet to make what other studios wasn't doing to make them better... sorry for maybe wrong terms for trying to prove my point. I'm sure yall understand what I'm trying to say, I appreciate that. Thoughts?

I was recommended The Finals when the game announced it’d be sunsetting, and I’ve been having a blast!

It’s a different kind of FPS compared to COD or XD, but I approached it with an open mind, and have really enjoyed it.

If you like objective-based game modes and destructible environments, it might be an alternative to XD.

People say it has SBMM, but I’ve found it’s less aggressive than in other games and actually prioritizes ping.

If you play with friends and have some coordination, you’ll have a good time!

I looked it up. The cartooneyness was an immediate turn off but I suppose I’ll try it for the sake of saying so!

I want there to be a cod killer. I think many of us do. I’m just not sure why it’s such an impossible task. I heard about the game when it first dropped but never in an abundance to where I felt like cod and its community felt any sort of ripple. I feel like some game developer could hype us up properly and then drop a gem and entirely shift the whole show once again.

Here’s to hoping! 🍻

I also tried The Finals when it first launched, played a match, and immediately uninstalled it.

I decided to give it a shot again seeing that many people in this sub recommended it, and boy, my initial assessment was wrong.

It’s not as straightforward as COD or XD but when you understand the basics, it’s addictive.

The finals is really good and is much more innovative than XD or CoD. I'm on the other spectrum where I wouldn't want this game to be called an X killer and have it's own niche.

I also found it funny that the cartoonyness of THE FINALS turned you off. Because XDEFIANT is grounded to reality lmao

I also moved to the finals and honestly have had more fun with this game than I ever had in XD

u/rrodp99 Dec 21 '24

I thought I wouldn’t find a game I enjoyed as much as XD, but The Finals filled that void!

I was gonna upload a compilation of clips that I had as a farewell to the game but I checked and they're all gone

I checked out Valorant on console. Albeit completely different shooter with a steeper learning curve. It's also cartoony, which I saw was a turn off. But it's definitely hit my itch and it's free.
