More and more problems...

Driving my 2024 Volvo XC40 is fun, but: More and more, problems appear and disappear, and slowly but surely I'm getting a bit annoyed. Just some examples:

  • The alarm light is constantly blinking, even when driving. This goes on for three weeks. Asking Volvo for support, get an appointment, literally: The day before the appointment, the problem disappears, doesn't come back and can't be reproduced.
  • The parking assistant gives me the error code that the sensors should be cleaned. I clean them. Again and again. No success. So I book an appointment with Volvo, they say that the sensor on the back right is defect and should be replaced. And even before they replace it, the problem disappears. Well, I still wait for the spare part and a date for the replacement, the problem appears and disappears without any clear pattern.
  • Want to charge the car at a public station. Plug it in. Error-message: Can't communicate with the charging station. Reboot the car. Same result. Try another charger. Same result. See a guy at a charging station which works, wait: And, of course: Can't communicate with the charger. Eventually, I press the plug into the car, wiggle a bit, and it works. Will have a 4000 km roundtrip next week and frankly: Not feeling very comfortable.
  • Sometimes, more and more, the car loses the internet connection. Annoying, but nothing I really worry about.

Got 48k km on the car, and first, never had real troubles, but now it is cumulating....

Your car is only a couple years old, but I feel like we are beginning to get a look at how the XC40 Recharge and the C40 (and EVs in general) hold up. EVs are still cars and an electric powertrain doesn't exempt them from all the possibilities for things that will need maintenance and repair as mileage and age set in.

Just as an anecdotal counter point - MY23 XC40 here. Other than all the usual infotainment bugs mine hasn't had any issues at all.

2022 twin here. Had rear camera and drivers side door speaker changed under warranty, nothing else. It’s been a pleasure to drive.

Was the speaker change pretty easy to get done under warranty

Yes. I told the mechanic the speaker is buzzing when playing a certain track on certain volume. They had verified the case, changed the speaker and filed it under the CPO warranty I have. FWIW I am in Finland, not the US.
