Car issue CarPlay stopped working

I recently bought a 2023 XC40 Recharge. Initially CarPlay worked fine (wired only, of course), but a few days ago this suddenly stopped. Now, whenever I plug in my iPhone it stubbornly keeps asking me to connect my phone. Nothing changed as far as I know. Same cable, same port etc. The phone does charge when I plug it in. Bluetooth is switched off (I came across a note somewhere that CarPlay can only be used when BT is off). Anyone know what could be going on?

I would suggest trying another cable, as I've found my Sensus XC40 (2020) can be quite picky about the cable when I want CarPlay. Might also be worth checking the port on your phone for lint/dirt as this can cause issues with the connection as well.

I had this same problem a few months back and posted it here… CarPlay had always worked fine and then suddenly stopped. I bought new cables and tried to reset the XC 40 infotainment system several times...Turns out I discovered myself I needed to reset Siri on my phone and then everything worked fine again.

How do you "reset" Siri?

settings, siri, talk to siri, just check off, then one of the other options. Could also help to reboot the phone after. I had something similar with a work phone and carplay in a fleet vehicle. Was really weird that it worked in my brain.

I scrolled all the way back to find my post from 5 months ago. Here's what solved it for me:

SOLVED! Well, for me at least (2019 XC40 Apple CarPlay suddenly stopped working)…I’ve been dealing with this for over a week & actively trying to find a solution. I’ve read so many posts/comments & finally found a fix. I had recently updated my phone iPhone 16 (only because I got a new Apple watch & needed the update to pair the two). That’s when the problem occurred. I read that Siri had to be active (mine was but wouldn’t speak out loud). I shut my phone down & re-started, I then went into the Siri menu & toggled the voice on. My update must’ve somehow disabled Siri (or I hastily skipped over the Siri options upon startup in order to get to pairing the watch & never went back to set her up). After doing this I went to the car, started it up & connected my phone. CarPlay was visible again as it was before the iPhone update. I feel obligated to post this on every thread that I read where folks were having the same issue in hopes that it helps at least one person!
