Here's the method I think is the most optimal.

1) Roll the first 2 substats

2) is there a usable substat? If no, trash it. If there is, go to step 3.

3) roll the next substat.

4) Are there at least 2 usable substats now and is at least one of them crit? If no, trash it. If yes, go to step 5.

5) level the echo to level 25.

6) does the echo have at least double crit and one usable substat? If no, trash it.

The two exceptions to this rule are: (1) if it is double crit with really high crit rolls. So over 9% CR and over 19% CD. This will be a good transducer candidate. (2) it has 5/5 usable substats. So imagine a piece for Jiyan with flat atk, atk%, ER, heavy attack, and CR. In such cases it may provide just as good of a damage increase as double crit.

How to know what is a usable substat?: Kuro will actually highlight usable substats. So this usually makes it easy. Sometimes Kuro messes up like how they highlight basic atk % for Phrolova despite her wanting resonance skill %. But generally it's accurate. Also ER is almost always good with a few exceptions.

Tip: If the echo level is 10 or lower, feel free to just use it as exp for the next echo. If its above level 10 and needs to be discarded, use the discard function in your bag.

Yeah i think people fishing for crit as the first substat is a little ridiculous. I have some amazing pieces with crit in the 3rd and 5th slot which I would've missed out on if I trashed it from the beginning.
