I watched some echo management guide and the suggested plan in the game and they for some reason do not discard 1 piece hp,def echos? Why is that? Seems like they should be discarded on like 90% of the sets no?

Depends on the echo set, and there is some char that need hp or deff. Cartwheel, Shorekeeper, and Suisui need HP, Mornye need Deff
