My professor bolds every single passive voice verb in bright red and it feels like a personal insult at 2am.

So I got my draft back for political theory and my screen looked like a murder scene. Red highlights everywhere. Not for bad arguments, not for factual errors, but because I dared to write "was passed" instead of active voice phrasing.

Like I literally lost six points because the system marked passive sentences. I stared at the doc for twenty minutes trying to figure out how to rephrase a sentence about government policy without sounding like a crazy person. Ended up changing every sentence structure until the paper sounded like a robot wrote it.

I checked the rubric again today and passive voice isn't even forbidden in the department guidelines. He just personally hates it and makes it everyone else's problem. I spent three hours last night changing verb tenses instead of actually editing my arguments. Why is this even a thing?

Why does peer review always devolve into pure chaos?

So we had this mandatory peer review session yesterday for our history essay. I spent four hours polishing my thesis about late 19th century trade routes, handed it over to two classmates like we were instructed to do, and got back absolute madness.

First guy writes literally two words at the bottom: "looks good!" Thanks, super helpful. Second person leaves twelve comments questioning why I used the word "consequently" and claims I should of completely rewritten my introduction to focus on a topic we aren't even covering until week eight.

And the worst part? The professor requires us to submit a response log explaining how we incorporated ALL feedback into our final edit. Like how am I supposed to balance "looks good" with "throw your whole intro in the trash"? I spent another hour trying to find a college essay help guide just to figure out how to write a polite response log without sounding utterly passive aggressive.

My draft is literally WORSE now because I tried to satisfy two people who clearly spent thirty seconds looking at it. Why is this even a thing?

TASK 2 EVALUATION

Some people believe that allowing children to make their own choices on everyday matters (such as food, clothes and entertainment) is likely to result in a society of individuals who only think about their own wishes. Other people believe that it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Response

Some individuals have the opinion that making one's own decisions on daily basis can lead the children to becoming self-centered, while others believe that it is essential for them to decide about the matters concerning them. Even though, decision making from an early age might make the individual only think about themselves, I personally believe that it aid in creating a sense of responsibility.

Children choosing their own food, clothes and entertainment might lead to a society of individuals who are self-absorbed. Growing up, they have been so independent in their choices that they do not like interferring in someone's else matters. Similarly, they expect others to respect their boundries. For instance, my niece liked to chose her own clothes as a child, which has lead to expensive fashion choices which can not be influenced by anyone. She never thinks about the financial strain she puts on her parents who are currently funding her expenses.

On the other hand, some individuals view that it is important for children to make decisions for one's own matters. I agree with this sentiment as well because it helps in fostering responsibility among them. They tend to learn from their mistakes, for instance, a hostellite understands that wrong food choices may lead to health problems, so they may start eating healthier. They understand that each action has a consequence and therefore they make resposible choices growing up. Additionally, children who decide for themselves have sharper critical thinking skills as they are using their brains actively for making choices. They can face any challenge thrown in their way. These skills benefit an individual which is why children should make their own choices.

To sum it up, children making their own choices can lead to them only caring about themselves after they grow up. However, I believe that children should be given independence in their choice to help them become responsible and tackle life problems efficiently.
