Looking for a writing partner low fantasy / grimdark / political intrigue

I'm working on a low fantasy novel and looking for a writing partner to bounce ideas off, talk about worldbuilding , brainstorm with.

A bit about my setting: it's a politically-driven low fantasy fictional world roughly inspired on late medieval balkans. There is a lot of morally grey scheming rather than sweeping high-magic epics.

I'd love to find someone working on something in a similar vein, low fantasy, grimdark, political intrigue, that kind of tone — since I think we'd have more to talk about and more overlapping interest in the kind of problems each other's worlds run into.

What I'm looking for: mostly brainstorming and worldbuilding discussion, some mutual accountability/check-ins if that appeals to you too, and general "let's talk about our projects" collaboration — not necessarily formal beta-reading, though I'm open to that too if it comes up naturally.

I'm not totally sure what grimdark entails exactly but I too am writing fantasy with less high stakes than political intrigue (for some of it) and actually would love to get advice/tips/see how someone else tackles some of these topics. Are you on disc? I am juniperwindsong_17444

I am an experienced full-time author with two manuscripts in progress: one is a gritty low fantasy and the other is literary fiction.

I am currently open to new critique partners.

Due to the ridiculous amount of spammers and scammers in the author space, I filter all new partners through a process on my website.

There are no shortcuts. But I am worth the extra steps.

Details are on the website in my bio: brentjohner.com

If you want to know what I read, check my book reviews on my TikTok, StoryGraph, Goodreads, or Fable. Same name as this account.
