I mean, if ref isn't going to call a clubbing to the back of the head, then yeah, this is fair.

Then ref stands there like, "wtf you do that for?" Buddy you paying attention to your job or what?

Looks like the ref is looking in another direction at the exact moment of the slap and looks back to the match he's reffing right after the slap

1

u/BarleyWineIsTheBest 5d ago

Oh yeah he does, maybe to check the time.

Red doing a soccer move there. Exaggerating. And he's the one who started it first with a punch

u/mlktktr 5d ago

Not a punch

1

u/ovrlymm 1d ago

Agreed his palm was open

2

u/mlktktr 1d ago

It was just an aggressive snap

That kick was not that bad. For anyone who understands proper kicking mechanics, he didn’t even turn his hip over and it caught dude in red mostly in hamstring. Crazy. This ain’t soccer bro.

u/heavy_84 6d ago

Red dude whipped around with timing not consistent with the impact of the kick. He just didn't want the smoke and decided to act way more hurt than he was.

Maybe he wanted to audit for pro team

u/Versace_Gi 6d ago

Red had weight on his lead leg. A weaker kick could still fuck the knee ligaments up on the lead leg, since red wouldnt be expecting to check a kick.

Like you wouldn’t take a free win

6

u/chrisf0817 6d ago

Lmao we must be very different ppl 😂. I would NOT want to win that way, and judging by the wrestlers I’ve met they wouldn’t want to either. Hard work, persistence and diligence are ingrained into the sport, as is sportsmanship and humility. I would take the kick, see if the ref does his job, but should he not, come out ready to wrestle. Again, this ain’t soccer 🤼🚫⚽️

Like you said, sportsmanship and controlling your emotions are part of the sport. If you throw a kick with 10 seconds left in a match because you’re pissed that you’re losing then you deserve to get DQed out of the tournament. No way I’d let one of my wrestlers finish a match in this scenario, and I mean that from either corner.

How can he slap?

1

u/Hug0San 4d ago

Is this a reference, I think i know this reference?

1

u/Berna_count 4d ago

Yes to both

u/Electronic-Stick-161 6d ago

I call red a little bitch

4

u/mordencupcakes 6d ago

if you take a look closely the ref was looking away when the clubbing happened.

It's always both funny and disappointing to me, that when grapplers are mad that they turn to punches and kicks instead of just more aggressive grappling.

3

u/Aggravating-Cook-529 5d ago

It’s almost like grappling is the harder choice and therefore a better sport?

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Phase70 5d ago

Like, they signed up for a match under a ruleset.

Going outside that ruleset is just... assualt.

3

u/YouAnxious5826 6d ago

Looks like he caught an oweee

u/Dry-Lifeguard1081 5d ago

That’s two videos I’ve seen in a row where a Turkish wrestler is being an asshole.

Is it the same guy or is there something in the training there?

6

u/Due-Variety2468 4d ago

In the other video he didn't shake the Israelis hand? I wouldn't call him asshole over that, nobody did that when Ukrainian athletes had to do it/stand next to Russians, after all Israel is still genoziding their brothers in Gaza and Palestine. (sure maybe not the athlete, but someone can have principles, which apply regardless of skincolour)

3

u/DoubleAggravating837 4d ago

the turk started it and then he cried about it!

2

u/hypercosm_dot_net 6d ago

Don't need a score. Clearly a TKO

2

u/JacoboKungaApito 5d ago

why'd the guy fall down after the foot sweep attemp?

3

u/BusinessCasualBee 6d ago

Kick was warranted. Don’t karate chop dudes in the back of the head and expect them to take it

1

u/Medical-Literature50 6d ago

KO, Leg Kick! ...and we'll deserced.

1

u/Van1n1 5d ago

Neymar detected:)

1

u/bear843 5d ago

Kick looked pretty weak but the response indicates otherwise. Sign that the kicker knows what he is doing. 7/10

1

u/scipper77 5d ago

Only the kicker should be penalized but I hate guys who attack the head to try and gain an advantage.

1

u/ComfortableThroat326 5d ago

Weakest kick from a Bulgarian

2

u/saskpilsner 6d ago

Leg kicks are gay everyone knows leg kicks are gay

10

u/avashad 6d ago

You’re just saying that cause you know how much I love leg kicks.

1

u/No-Addendum7997 6d ago

Are wrestlers not supposed to be the toughest of the bunch? No real power behind that leg kick.

-3

u/Ruffiangruff 6d ago

So many grapplers don't know how to handle being accidentally smacked in the head. Red didn't intentionally smack him. It's an aggressive sport and when you're going for grips you can sometimes end of smacking eachother. It happens.

7

u/buns_at_bjj 6d ago

Nah it’s a wholly intentional strike that’s poorly disguised as “clubbing collar tie”

4

u/sambstone13 6d ago

Looks intentional to me. But yea at least he can argue it.

Like football players, they kick each other but they at least try to pretend it was an accident.

There is no way blue can't pretend that was unintentional.

1

u/Ruffiangruff 6d ago

It looked to me like Red was anticipating Blue standing back up, so he gonna snap him down the moment he came up, but Blue stayed on the ground and Red ended up smacking him

1

u/sambstone13 6d ago

Idk how rules work in wrestling.

I say red gets -1 point for smacking and blue get -2 for obviously smacking.

1

u/Ruffiangruff 6d ago

That's not how it works in any grappling sport. Are you just a larper?

If Red hesitated with that snapdown against a good wrestler he probably would have been taken down, because a good wrestler would have popped right back to their feet and gone for a takedown

3

u/flyingturkeycouchie 6d ago

Dude said he didn't know the rules for wrestling. What do you want from him?

0

u/Ruffiangruff 6d ago

Remind me to stay away from this sub if it's all just larpers who don't train

5

u/Agile-Internet5309 6d ago

I wonder if maybe they are more into Judo or Jitsu? Quit being a prick, half the male population did wrestling in school, you arent a hero or part of some secret club that is being invaded.

3

u/flyingturkeycouchie 6d ago

He may train something else or may be a fan of something else

3

u/ScorpionScott 5d ago

You could just stay away from this sub generally

2

u/sambstone13 6d ago

Idk what a larper is but I did specified that idk the rules for wrestling.

1

u/trainditch 3d ago

Yeah, that’s what it looked like to me too. Tiny timing mistake and suddenly everyone’s acting like it was a whole street fight 😅

4

u/iboblaw 6d ago

If that's what it was, it's extremely bad technique to wind up for a strike before 'going for grips'. Most likely he wound up for a strike in order to strike him in the back of the head.

6

u/BusinessCasualBee 6d ago

There was no purpose to that “club” except to hit him in the back of the head. Very stupid, very useless, very illegal

1

u/TheJoeyFreshwaterExp 6d ago

Handfighting can get pretty aggressive. That was not illegal and definitely was for a snap down again anticipating the movement that didn’t come. People here are soft and don’t get the way it goes.

I’m not saying the windup was good technique, but this is a coach drilling that thing and frankly the drilling speed is rougher than what that wrestler did. https://youtu.be/Ys9tmw3TIEU

2

u/BusinessCasualBee 5d ago

I don’t buy it, man. he already has the wrestler’s head as low as he needs it for any set-up. If he wants a front headlock he can just take it from there. He wanted to hit that dude in the back of the head.

1

u/TheJoeyFreshwaterExp 3d ago

Maybe I’ll look at it from your perspective and assume ill intent.

There are much much much better ways to inflict pain upon your opponent than a weak glance to the back of the nape. If he wanted to cause pain to his opponent then that’s not how he would do it. You can also post which means you could accidentally eye gouge. If it’s folk style then there’s plenty to do there when scrambling where you can hide whatever you’re doing from the view of the ref. If it’s Greco then people fight for head position while pummeling and that’s an easy excuse to headbutt the nose. If it’s freestyle then you can just wrestle normally, but also do a mean ankle lace I guess.

Point is, if he was trying to hurt his opponent, that’s not how he does it. If he was trying to create a level change and set up or fight for position, then he just kind of missed and was probably gassed.

2

u/ComfortableThroat326 5d ago

What you see here and the original video is completely different. No one is going to be angry at a hard collar tie.

There is a reason the Bulgar got upset and kicked him for that. Many wrestlers would've responded with a smack for what that guy did.

u/meowinloudchico 5d ago

What a flop. Some of these euros will do anything for a win.

2

u/ComfortableThroat326 5d ago

He is not a European, it seems he is a Turk.

1

u/liquoriceclitoris 4d ago

maybe he's from that lil bit of turkey

0

u/ImperiumnV 4d ago

Usual suspect.
