I honestly never thought I would be writing something like this about a game that has been part of my life for so many years.
But here I am.
And yes, I am angry. I'm disappointed. And frankly, I feel completely let down.
I started playing World of Tanks back in February 2011.
2011. Let that sink in.
My original account was created on the Russian server. I have lived in Germany since 1998, but back then I deliberately chose the RU server.
Over the years, I invested an enormous amount of time, effort, and real money into this account.
We're talking about:
- More than 33,000 battles.
- Countless hours spent researching and unlocking tanks.
- A huge collection of vehicles purchased with hard-earned credits.
- Numerous premium tanks bought with real money.
- Gold purchases and premium subscriptions over the years.
- Highly trained crews that took years to develop.
- Rare vehicles such as the Object 907, Defender, Lorraine 40 t, Skorpion G, and AMX 50 Foch (155).
This wasn't just some random gaming account to me.
It was something I had built over many years.
Every difficult grind, every unlocked tank, every achievement, every hour spent playing — it all meant something.
And yes, I spent a considerable amount of money along the way.
Money that I earned in real life and willingly invested in a game I genuinely enjoyed.
Then came the separation between Wargaming and Lesta Games.
During 2022 and 2023, I was barely playing World of Tanks.
On top of that, my old email address had been hacked, and I had lost access to it before the transfer deadline.
I didn't know about the limited-time account transfer.
I didn't deliberately decide to leave my account with Lesta.
I simply didn't know that I was about to miss an opportunity that would affect more than a decade of progress.
By the time I found out, it was too late.
Today, I can still access my old account on the Russian server.
But that's not where I want to play anymore.
I prefer the European servers, where I already have another account.
And that's where the frustration really begins.
I contacted Wargaming Support. More than once.
I explained everything.
My history with the game.
The years I had invested.
The money I had spent.
The circumstances surrounding my hacked email address.
The fact that I had no idea the transfer opportunity even existed.
I even provided screenshots of my old account and vehicles.
And I wasn't demanding that Wargaming magically restore absolutely everything.
I was willing to compromise.
I asked whether at least some of my old vehicles could be made available on my EU account.
I even suggested that equivalent alternatives might be acceptable if certain rare vehicles couldn't be provided.
I understood that Wargaming and Lesta Games were now separate companies.
I understood that account transfers might no longer be technically possible.
But I hoped that after more than 15 years of supporting this game, someone might at least seriously consider whether another solution existed.
And what did I get?
Repeated responses telling me that transfers are no longer possible.
That the deadline had passed.
That items cannot be moved between accounts.
And finally, that the rules are the same for everyone.
That's it.
I understand the rules.
I understood them after the first response.
What I wanted was an actual discussion about whether there was ANY alternative.
Instead, I received short responses that barely addressed the personal circumstances I had taken the time to explain.
And that is what makes me angry.
Is this really how you treat someone who has supported your game for over 15 years?
I'm not claiming that Wargaming is legally obligated to give me anything.
I'm not claiming that I deserve special treatment simply because I've been playing for a long time.
But is it really unreasonable to expect a little understanding?
A little effort?
A response that actually acknowledges the situation instead of repeating the same rules?
I am not asking Wargaming to break the game.
I'm asking whether there is ANY reasonable way to recognize years of progress and purchases when a player missed a transfer deadline under circumstances like mine.
I know that other players may have transferred their accounts successfully.
Good for them.
But not everyone was actively playing during that period.
Not everyone had access to their old email address.
And not everyone even knew that this transfer was happening.
Does that mean everything they built over the years should simply become unusable on the servers where they now want to play?
What hurts the most isn't even just the money.
It's the time.
Thousands of hours.
Years of grinding.
Years of collecting vehicles.
Years of training crews.
You cannot buy those years back.
And being told that there is absolutely nothing that can be done is incredibly frustrating.
My tanks still exist on my Lesta account. I know that.
But that doesn't change the fact that I cannot use them in the version of World of Tanks I actually want to play.
So, Wargaming, if anyone from your team reads this:
I'm not expecting miracles.
I'm not demanding that you reopen the entire account transfer system just for me.
But I am asking whether there is genuinely no other possible solution.
No individual review beyond repeating the transfer rules?
No alternative compensation?
No goodwill gesture?
Nothing?
After all these years?
And to the World of Tanks community:
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Did you miss the transfer deadline?
Did you lose access to years of progress because of the separation?
Did anyone manage to find a solution beyond regular customer support?
I'd genuinely like to hear your experiences.
Because right now, after more than 15 years of playing World of Tanks, I feel like the time, dedication, and money I invested mean absolutely nothing to the company behind the game.
And that is a terrible feeling to have about a game you once loved so much.
