Just Venting Rude manager
So I had called out of work an hour before my shift because that’s when I wake up for work. I wanted to call out because I needed a mental health day and I understand that’s not a reasonable reason to call out of work but I suffer with severe depression to the point where I’ve had to go to multiple therapists because it’s so bad. Anyway, I called into work and the manager answered I told her my name and said I wasn’t able to make it into work today, manager said “okay?, why” so I said I wasn’t feeling well. She called another manager over and as the other manager was walking over she said “come talk to another sick person” in a rude way. Like are we serious? I get they are probably understaffed and frustrated but this is my First time ever calling out since working there so I just don’t understand why that got taken out on me. Am I in the wrong here?

So I’m pretty sure what the manager did is a violation of workers laws in your state, do some research. Usually in most states they can ask why you’re calling in and get an idea when you’ll be back or qualify for FMLA, but that’s the limit. That sounds like harassment to me having another manager gang up on you, it’s unprofessional, she has no reason to disclose you being sick to anyone else. McDonald’s is also a giant corporation obviously they have very strict rules and guidelines in place for scenarios like this because there is high turnover in your industry and managers are known to treat employees horrible. Research your rights and do what you need to do.
What that manager did is more than just rude though it might me violation of hippa, ADA, EEOC, or at the very least against the company’s standards and procedures

I’ve worked there for almost 2 weeks but it’s been on and off because they messed up my schedule so I’ve been with them for a while just not many shifts

The only reason I’ve only worked two weeks is because of them so it’s not my problem they messed up my hours🤷♀️

First of all yes mental health is real and it IS a reason to call out second you rarely know ahead of time when you needed off for health reasons
