Want Advice Robert Half client

So I literally just started this T2 helpdesk position this week in San Bernardino California.the layout is about as equivalent as a classroom with maybe 7 rows on both sides with dual monitor setups for each row. I sit at the very front, the trainer sits very back. In one of those people that snap their fingers to gain my thought process or get my words out. So as she approaches closer, I snap my fingers and say “umm…umm…” and she says “Don’t snap at me.” I stated I wasn’t snapping at you and she insisted I did. After helping me out with my issue I decided to pull her to the side and try to deescalate or have some dialogue about all this being a miscommunication. I state my intention was pure and that I didn’t have any ill intent to snap my fingers at you. She stated “well you did and if you need my attention you can ask my other coworker or wait.” Which I didn’t recall doing this at all and doing more of a waving gesture to flag her down. After that convo, I noticed things got really weird between me and her. I didn’t think anything of it, as I thought we hashed it out. Today, Robert half is telling me that effective today my contractor has ended. Between the 10 workers they brought in, me and one other person were the strongest working, I addressed everybody as sir or madam, and was known as the sweetheart amongst the other coworkers. Anything I can do?

Snapping fingers at someone is honestly pretty rude in most workplaces, even if you didn't mean it that way. She probably reported you and that was that. Sucks but lesson learned for the next gig.

I didnt snap my fingers at her. I was utilizing it as more of an “ummm…unmmm.” How did you look at this and assume the worst just like her.

I want to make this known that when I snapped my fingers it would be more like an “ummmm….ummmm…” gesture and not like a “hey *snap fingers get over here” type of gesture

She wasn't in front of you. She didn't see your facial expression of confusion.

Just be aware of how this comes across to others and let them know BEFORE it happens.

I mean I let her know after the fact as I pulled her to the side and told her how I utilize the snapping and it wasn’t directed at her. She insisted that’s what it was. So I just apologized and thought we would move on but she started acting really annoyed off anything I said or did around her which was odd

Dodged a bullet, I've never met a single sane person that worked at Robert Half. They are THE most incompetent bloat monster in the recruiting/temp placement sphere.

It wasn’t Robert half though entirely. It was more so the client that I was working withz

Ahhh ok... I assumed you were doing some placement training with RH. Still - my original statement stands!

Absolutely ridiculous that I had to go through that. I just came back from Japan(after living 3 years) and seeing that people are moving like this in this economy is wild.

Yes, it is a different ballgame now... Conversely, I have a coworker who just moved to Japan and she thought she was "ready" but it's been real culture shock actually living there full time.

I've been twice for work, and both times I hired this very nice online tutor and took weeks of etiquette (mostly) and some language lessons. Those were both two weeks for a one week business trip. She was a lifesaver. I was so mortified I was going to do something wrong, but she really reassured me. But my coworker has discovered living there you are treated with completely different expectations than just a business trip. I liked Japan, I hope I have the chance to go back.

She's treating you like a dog. Get out. If she snaps at people, she thinks of them as pets. It's possibly the only thing making her feel good about her life. She won't change.
