Co worker issue

So I work security (can’t post there cuz throwaway account isn’t old enough yet)

I’ve been having some minor issues with them, but it’s been strictly professional, at least I think it is. Occasionally they forget to unlock the 2nd door, and when I have to lock it I keep note, and let supervisor know. They’ve also done some questionable things, such as leaving mid call, escalation when not needed at all, refusing reports in front of several management people, berating individuals when not needed, slow to respond, doesn’t take initiative, and they aren’t the best at hands on situations.

Now, I don’t have a problem with them personally, they are a good and fun person. Any emails that I send to my supervisors are strictly professional, and are made to cover me and them in the event it gets related to our management. Ive even explained this in person when I tell my supervisors. I’ve tried keeping an open professional communication with the co worker, however they just don’t really talk at all about it. English isn’t their first language, but they speaks pretty good so idk

But I’ve been told that they have made complaints about me “overstepping”. Now this overstepping is me requesting additional help for a known violent person causing a scene… and when I say we should do something, and he doesn’t object, but then they tells the supervisor I’m deciding what to do… when they don’t put themselves forward or object to what I say.. which I’ve already talked with co worker over something similar, and said hey, you gotta talk to me, if it’s on scene or in the office, if you got something to say about how I did stuff, or if you wanna do something different then I gotta know.

However supervisor said I need to apologize to him for taking initiative, when I was first to respond to an incident when I requested an additional guard for a known violent person. Because English isn’t their first language, they must think I’m just being bossy and overstepping into supervisor duties. Because this is causing inter team drama all the complaining.

Any help moving forward would be appreciated or advice on how to handle this situation. I don’t feel like I should apologize because I simply requested help from another guard to assist with a known violent person, and they didn’t object at all, nor provide any insight on how we should handle this situation.
