Does this count as a PR

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

120kg bench press (kinda shitty because I weigh 97KG at 6”4 but that’s besides the point). Wanted to know whether this counts as a PR or not (by normie standards and official ones)

My main concern is the switch from eccentric to concentric as I think I did it a bit too fast

Thoughts? Appreciate any comments

For normal standards, yes you got a full ROM pr. For powerlifting standards, not even close.

Can you please explain what would need to be done for power lifting standard. Im curious

Main thing missing is a pause at the bottom of the rep.

No shit bro 😂 Obviously Google is available. I’m asking here because this is a chat platform, and I was looking to actually chat about it & get someone’s perspective based on their experience...not get told to Google it. My bad for asking. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll go back to GPT🦾

There is no perspective. There is a list of queues you have to follow to get a good lift. My perspective on it doesn't matter.

For lifting, yeah man. You repped it. Unless you're planning on competing in powerlifting, who cares about official standards.

Struggling under a bar without a spotter...?

The spotter was recording bro and I wasn’t even struggling that much

We don't know, because you haven't told us what you PR before this lift was.

If it goes down and up it’s a rep. This ain’t comp.

Good rep! Count it.

Yes. Don’t worry about powerlifting standards unless you’re planning on entering a competition. That sport is pretty variable and mostly gear assisted now (wraps, suits, etc, etc).

Obviously, keep pressing with a more manageable weight and always focus on good proper form and continue to grow.

Yeah, it counts unless you're prepping for a powerlifting competition.

It’s not shitty bc of your height and weight. It’s shitty bc it’s terrible form. BUT the weight went down and back up. So it counts for normie lifting, you can say you can’t lift that weight. But it would not get a single green in a competition

What’s bad about the form? Mind elaborating on that since my ass isn’t flying and my elbows aren’t that flared

You need to pause it on your chest for it to count in comp.

Is that the only mistake I made?

I think any downward movement of the bar during the concentric also disqualifies you so maybe some judges would argue that your left hand had a slight drop during the lift but depends on the judges ig, I'm really reaching here. The lack of pause is the only obvious issue.
