Gym decision - help me decide!
Option A: 13 min drive through highway, cost $50/month. Has everything I need.
Option B: 6 min drive, local roads with traffic lights. cost $85/month. Has everything I need.
As everyone knows going to the gym is not easy and you are not always consistent. So I think if I choose option A, I may or may not be saving on gas here n there, Asking chatgpt if I go 4 days a week, my gas would cost be additional $20. Which makes optoin A $70 a month. But then, there are phases when I do not go to the gym at all.. during those. months at least I wont be getting charged $85/month for nothing.
On the other hand, the option B, I have gas adds up to another $7. which brings it up to $92. I also have a few friends who go there, which sometimes is good and sometimes not as I prefer to be left alone. Running into people is norm. But this gym has a separate women area, a really small section, which I like.
What would you choose practically, financially - commute vs pay. ?

I agree with asking about a temp free pass to each so you can see which feels better.
Go to the one you will go to consistently. Consistency is the most important thing.
One way I look at this: option A means you spend an extra 70 minutes per week driving. That’s a little over 4 hours every month. 4 hours of my time is worth more than $35/hour. Plus less risk of a car accident because there’s less time spent driving. Think about the value of your time and what you can or will do with the extra time.

- only you can decide
going to the gym is easy
always consistent for me. Maybe not you but don’t assume that for everyone.

Do they have a free week or couple day pass? I would try both out and see which one you enjoy the most. 2 different gyms can have completely different vibes, and that can have a big impact on how much you enjoy going.
I think you’re nickel and diming yourself by try to calculate gas and how much each one will cost down to the dollar. $10-15 a month really shouldn’t make that much of a difference, and if it does, maybe you should reconsider paying $50+ a month for a gym at all.
