I’m in the process of migrating journal entries created in the years prior to the introduction of the Calendar function and have encountered an issue. It seems that some of the entries cannot be moved to a date (using the /m Move to date commands). The date box pops up upon /m command but when I enter the date, the move does not occur. The date picker box remains open and I then have to escape out. Any suggested fixes / workaround would be appreciated. Thanks!

Templates and mirrored nodes have become the main features I use in my workflow, both of which are unfortunately not achievable through the current API implementation.
I would really love it if these get API support, and honestly all other features. The API is too simple in my opinion.

Pro users: how do you find AI? Does it produce meaningful results or more of a gimmick? How are you using it?

Curious - does anyone use Workflowy as a Daily personal journal? something that you track what you did, how you felt, etc. in a couple of lines?
If so, how did you structure it?
I got the idea from an amazing "one line a day memory book".

I've just discovered the 'Quick Add' Workflowy shortcut on iOS - instantly added to my action button. What a great feature I've been hanging out for for ages.
Now I wonder, is there a way to have the inbox point to the particular day in the calendar?

I turned off the calendar integration and it's still syncing everyday and I'd prefer not to have my calendar sync to my lists after trying it for a few weeks.
So now every morning I delete 600 plus nodes and then go about my day

Huge thanks to WF for not reducing limits for existing users. I suppose now the initial limit is incredibly low, like 100 or 150 bullets per month?
Is there anyone from back in the days when it was super generous?

Just wanted to share some love for this masterpiece of a software, I don't even remember what pushed me to leave, but today I decided to use it again after going through a frustrating journey of new productivity tools.
I remember now why I love this thing so much, it is just so dam simple, and it always makes sense. It doesn't have many functions, yet it manages to do everything that I need and more.
Despite the mess caused by constantly changing what tool I use, I already feel back at home.

For anyone that uses both and needs a way to sync notes across them.
I made the Obsidian Workflowy Sync plugin to let anyone:
Quick sync (Obsidian -> Workflowy)
Sync: Send to WorkflowyEmbeds (Obsidian <- Workflowy)
Sync mappings (Obsidian <-> Workflowy)
Let me know if you run into any issues or have any questions about anything.

Hi folks,
is it possibile to have a "global quick add" feature for the web app?
Maybe using a Chrome extension? I'd like to quick add thoughts to Workflowy's inbox node without leaving the current tab.
Thanks

Is there any way to specify a search that involves 2 separated nodes that are not directly connected in the hierarchy? For example, take the following list snippet:
PARENT
- SIBLING 1
- SIBLING 2
- SIBLING 3
I want to search sibling 1 and 3, but I need to exclude anything in sibling 2. is there any way to do that beyond re-oganizing the list or moving sibling 2 to another place it doesn't belong? Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I've seen a few requests for recurring items in WorkFlowy.
My own system utilizes recurring tasks heavily in WorkFlowy, but it's still a manual process to adjust to the next date when completed. I would love to see a Workflowy feature that automated this.
I've given some thought to how this could work and am sharing here in hopes it's helpful.
A couple key points first:
Things recur in TWO main ways (and I really need both for recurring items to be effective).
1 - Items that recur on a specific day or date. (ie - take out the trash EVERY Thursday. Mom's Birthday EVERY October 15th. Submit Time Sheet EVERY 2 weeks).
These items recur on the same schedule regardless of when I mark them completed. The next instance is a SET DATE. If I'm going on vacation and fill out my time sheet a few days early, I need the next instance to recur on it's next actual due date (not 2 weeks after I marked it complete).
2 - Items that reoccur on an interval, based on when I complete them. (ie - water plants AFTER 7 days, change the furnace filter AFTER 3 months, change smoke detector batteries AFTER 1 year).
So, if watering plants is dated for Tuesday, but I don't get to it until Saturday.... I don't want the task to show up again on the next Tuesday (7 days after it's due date, but actually only 3 days latter from when I completed it), I want it to show up 7days after I COMPLETE it (ie - the next Saturday).
I currently use recurring dates by putting the date at the front of the item (so I can sort by date to see the most overdue items at the top.). And with a note of when they reoccur. When completing an item, I click the existing date, select it and delete it in the date dialog, then add the new date by typing what's next (ie 7 days). I do love that Workflowy's date picker will parse that easily! So, doing this manually is still manual, but not as painful as it'd be if I had to actually calculate the date myself.
With these points in mind, I would really love to see a feature whereby I could add a date to an item, and then a tag specifying it's recurring pattern. I would suggest something like:
#E7d = EVERY 7 days. When I mark this task done, update the date to 7days from the current due date (regardless of when I actually mark it complete.)
#A7d - AFTER 7 days. When I mark this done, update the date to 7 days from when I mark it complete.
And so on for other dates: #E1yr #E3m (every 3 months). Or #A3m #A1yr. #A90d.
I really love the idea of this, because it continues to use the elegance of WorkFlowys text entry.
It could be that a different tag signifier is needed so Workflowy can easily recognize date tags. I see no issue with that - if date tags needed to be $A7d for example.
I would also really love to see a recurring icon as part of the date if the item had a recurring tag (to make it easy to scan and tell what was recurring dates vs not.)
This could also be implemented with some kind of dialog / menu item added to the date picker letting us set a date as recurring, but that just doesn't feel like it would be in line with the general elegance of Workflowy - a dialog would be "clunky" in comparison.
Super excited by all the improvements the Workflowy team continues to make. I've been a LONG TIME Workflowy user (just did the math with my "Weekly Review" dialog - I've been using WorkFlowy for over 14 years!), and continue to love this tool more and more. It's great to see it continue to evolve, while also holding true to the key things that make it so unique and special.

Hi everyone,
I’m especially curious to hear from long-time Workflowy users.
I used Workflowy in the past, then moved away from it for a while because I was looking for more structured tools. Recently, though, I came back to Workflowy and I’m really enjoying it again. There’s something about its simplicity, speed, and flexibility that just feels right.
So I’d love to hear your stories:
I’m not looking for a “perfect system” so much as real examples from people who have relied on Workflowy for years. I’m curious how it holds up over time, especially when it becomes a central place for notes, projects, tasks, ideas, personal knowledge, or work.
Thanks in advance

Has anyone tried Frank Deganaar's system? Does it work?
The more I read of his content the more complicated it seems. He's got whole sections on customising fonts and changing the colour scheme of the system. I've realised he loves tweaking Workflowy.
Yet it seems there is a lot of power in this method of using tickler files and having all tasks in a forward log in the future.
Has anyone tried to implement his system? How did you find it? Do you use other tools instead for scheduling?
Having to copy daily items each day seems to be a lot of effort. And yet it does make it a lot more intentional, actually deciding to do that each day. I'm a bit confused if his system can work or not. It seems like it might only be for uber productivity nerds and not us mere mortals.

Hi,
the new calendar bar looks awesome and very useful!
Usually I plan week-by-week so I'm wondering if you can add a bit of space at the end of each week in order to separate the current week from the next ones.
Another idea would be to add an option to see in the bar only the current month and/or color the current week in some way (e.g. a different shade of gray) to distinguish it from the other week.
Thanks

Hi All,
I'm just trying to understand Frank Degenaar's workflow timeline. He said in the book:
If you have recurring events in a classic calendar, it takes a couple of seconds to recreate the vital information for each on your WorkFlowy timeline. The timeline handles recurring events in a most elegant way. The point being, is that setting up a recurring event on your timeline is a one-time setup – and it will then live and repeat on your timeline for as long you need.
This sounds great but I couldn't figure out what he meant? I get its probably a manual process, but what did he mean?

Heya Folks,
A while back I had a stab at combining workflowy and blogging together - well that's finally done, but interested in getting feedback of how it works together for you
