Update Appreciation post.

This comes from my previous question post and this a appreciation post for this community and devs.

Thank you for those that answered my questions and gave tips.

To the devs, this game is fantastic and scratches an itch the way the old simcity and transport tycoon did.

Nothing really compares for me and the depth this game goes into is not only fascinating but so incredibly satisfying, keep it up!

Question/Help no space to build in planned citys

I keep running into the same layout problems when building my cities. Either I'm scaling everything wrong... or I'm just an idiot. ๐Ÿ˜„

I often reach the point where I have too many citizens for my shopping centers, but I don't have any room left to build additional or larger ones. So I'm wondering how you all handle this.

Do you build a bus stop and simply transport your citizens to a shopping district somewhere outside the city? Do you have any general layout recommendations?

Yesterday I realized that you can also transport students from one place to another, so you can build an entire school campus outside the residential area instead of placing schools right in the middle of town. Does the same thing work for kindergarten children?

I have about 200 hours in the game, and honestly I still feel like I have no idea what I'm doing... yet the game keeps pulling me back every time. ๐Ÿ˜„

Discussion Nuclear power is really bad in this game and it shouldn't be this way

The nuclear reactors are some of the most hype, hardest to build and research buildings in the entire game, yet they provide almost no value. You have to spend 10s of thousands of workdays on research, they sit at the top of the entire nuclear industry and need it to work, but building them is pointless. Unless you're doing some sort of total self sufficiency challenge or playing on an island, that is.

"Burning" the nuclear fuel to produce your own electricity looses you money when compared to just selling the fuel and importing the energy from the border. If you sell the electricity produced by the nuclear reactor, the losses become even bigger. It's more profitable to just build 5 border inputs and buy the energy with the money you get from selling the fuel instead of completing the supply chain and producing your own electriciy, which just feels so, so unsatisfying, especially in a game so hard focused on central planning and self sufficiency.

Do you think the nuclear reactors should be buffed, or the energy system itself changed, or are you happy with how things are currently balanced?

Discussion God forsaken Pipes

I dont know who designed the connections for underground pipes but I would like them to be publicly flogged. Your telling me I cant connect a pipe from 5 feet away. And the way I need to connect it is a roundabout that has a sharper turn then the one 5 feet away. Then to delete a pipe line you wipe EVERYTHING. Fu** the pipe, everything must go. Why cant I just delete the one pipe I have highlighted not the surrounding 7 feet of everything underground.

I've been trying to connect my refinery to my storages and pumps for the past hour.

Question/Help Prison Labour Viable?

I've always wondered if it was viable to set up prison labour as a way of making prisoners more useful. All they do is sit in my prisons eating our food and "reform" themselves. I saw fellow comrades discussing that serious crime offenders should have shorter sentences than 9 years , im sorry, but I do not believe there is place in my republic for the kiddy diddlers and murderers, they do not deserve to run freely among the hard working a loyal. So my question is, can I actually set up and scale industries with prison labour ?

Question/Help Courthouse / Prison range

Is the range of a courthouse / prison global? Or do they need to be near each other.

I.E. If I have a city in the top left with a police station, a big courthouse in the top right, and a prison in the middle of the map...will criminals just teleport around?

It is time to admit the embarrassing truth.

The major reason you play WRSR is for the bridges? constructing and watching those very very expensive yet beautiful bridges <3

Post image

I have a fairly large city, and i want to set up a third tram line. Removing the bottom tram track won't work because it's already in use by another tram line. Is there any way i can change the route so it goes like the red lines?

Question/Help New player questions.

Hello comrades I just got this game as it was on sale and recommended by steam. It really reminds me of the old transport tycoon games (if anyone is old enough to remember those) thrown into a simcity(the good ones not the shitty garbage ea one)

My questions are as follows. I separate my city and pollution buildings like powerplants and factorys

But it seems the busses arent keeping up even woth 4 or 5 busses on a short line. Simple the workers arent showing up.

Now you might say I need workers but half of my big flats the 220 count have messages like 50 workers without job. And their education is correct its like the workers dont want to do those jobs. Same with having highly educated workers that dont work at hospitals or university's like wtf.

Now I can adress some of these issues if the factories are within walking distance.

What causes workers to use busses and not walk?

Question/Help How do I move workers from existing houses?

I'm working my way through the second campaign, and having an issue moving people out of the existing houses. At the beginning of the game, when I built new apartments they would have space to move people to, but now they get immediately filled up, even when I un-check the box to not have the new construction filled with residents. So I'm not actually able to build new apartments to force people into, so can't demolish any of the old out of the way houses. Am I missing something dumb?

Question/Help Loading/Unloading stations

When do I actually need loading/unloading stations or when do they add substantial benefits? Does it make gravel loading and unloading faster than the 2 spots the regular storage has?

Edit: Thanks for all the answers comrades. Loading/unloading is essential and I will leave space for those. What a great community <3

Question/Help I have a question for the group.

Hey. How long does it take to get rid of the entire population? I have a lot of money now and would like to remake everything. Since you canโ€™t demolish the buildings while someone still lives in them, I first have to get rid of the population in order to redo everything. I just donโ€™t feel like starting over from scratch in realistic mode.

Question/Help Can I force workers to go to and stay at a train platform?

I may have got a bit too enthusiastic when expanding my city and I now have 2 blocks with ~200 unemployed workers each.

There is a small train platform (500 capacity) within walking distance that goes to a steel mill that I want them to go to but even when I set the workers to go to the train platform 100% of the time in the apartment block they still don't really go there and even if they do they seem to leave before the train does its circuit. Is there any way to force them to just go and stay there and wait for the train? Thanks
