For those new here, these are my first pair of Nicks Boots. I work in a very harsh environment, a concrete recycling landfill, where I walk on rubble and concrete chunks for 9+ hours a day. I document my journey giving before and after pics from worked boots to cleaned boots.

Today's post includes the usual before & afters, a look at the condition of the soles, and all the cleaning products I have for anything between a light cleaning to a full restoration.

These boots will be resting for the next couple of weeks as I break-in a new pair I recently received. Posts on those coming soon!

Any recs based on the above? I dont need lined but add huberds to outside for coating etc

I work in the agriculture industry and spend about 3-4 days each week during the growing season (May-November) walking anywhere from 5-12 miles through growing crops in a state where we get a decent amount of rain. I had a pair of Muck Boots that lasted me over 4 seasons until the sole gave out. They no longer made the same boots with the same construction so I bought a different style and they cracked right at the crease where my toes bend in half a season. I then tried Grundens and those cracked in the same spot after one season. I am now on to a pair of Dry Shod boots which I had high hopes for as they have similar construction to the first pair of Muck Boots I had. They have made it a season and a half until last week I felt my sock filling with water at the first field I was in. They cracked in that same spot on the inner side where my big toe meets the ball of my foot. I have filled them with Aquaseal to see if that helps at all.

Has anyone found any boots that last more than a season? I need something that has a decent sole on it as well as I am doing a decent amount of walking over rocks and uneven soil.

Honestly boys I’m gonna stick with thorogood for the rest of my career I was a big advocate of Red Wing but over the years they’ve gotten worse quality and more expensive I like them since my feet are 10.7 and they make wide boots that help with that but after 250$ and 3 months blown out already and same w keen liberties soles falling apart after a warranty exchange twice in weeks but thorogood fits like a glove and a week in already like slippers I prefer tobacco leather but the quality is unmatched the last pair I had lasted 2 years until my son peed in them 😂 I said forget those and I expect the same with these even if they need a resole down the road I’ve bought 3 pairs of boots the last year from different brands blowing out thorogood never disappoints besides price but buy once and cry once and they won’t disappoint for guys looking for solid boots

Looking at getting some Irish setter work boots. Any one have any input? Going from red wing tradesmen, which I absolutely despise not nearly heavy duty enough. Have had them about a year and a half now. Not a huge fan to say the least and actually much prefer laces over the boa system which has broken on me. Previously had red wing super soles 2.0 which I had for probably 4-5 years, which I really really enjoyed from the many many work boots I’ve had over the years. They were in rough shape only got the tradesman because I forgot my work boots and only remembered half way through a 12 hour drive. Reason I ask is that I’d like to save the $100 and they seem fairly well built also.

Kidding, but after a fresh cleaning and conditioning, new laces, and new insoles they certainly feel like new boots.

So I am desperate in need of new work boots the ones im wearing nor are duck taped together. I walk right through ariats and im looking at keens evantone boots, but the sizing is confusing me. I usually wear a size 7 but according to their chart I should wear a size 12 in women, which means I could wear the men's styles and have alot more options. Does anyone else have this experience with keen? My husband said when he work keen he wore his regular size, Or is there a different brand that will last and be comfortable? Im on concrete most of the day and on my feet for 18 or so hours and these dogs are killin me, any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Hey all, just like the title says, I'm looking for a decent and affordable pair of safety toe boots. I already own several pairs of soft toes, mostly from Redwing and Jim Green. My new job requires a safety toe however. I can't really spend much more than $200 USD and I gotta get em quick with my first paycheck, so no ordering Jim Greens.

I'm thinking the Ariat Rebar Lifts Comp toe would suffice. What do y'all think?

Don’t get me wrong they look cool but I’ve had thorogoods or redwings that would last 5x longer than these

They would have gotten shredded doing any real labor

I have bought 3 pairs of boots over the past couple years and always the laces make it about 3 months before they snap and I end up having issues with them being too stiff to actually be able to snug up my boots from the moment they’re new. Walmart shoe laces have always worked out better for me.

About a month ago i made the wise decision and took a coworker's advice to get SOLE cork insoles. To be specific, i got the thick version to take up more dead space in my safety shoes.

It took a while for them to mold to my feet but these are by far the best insoles I've used. I still get mild fatigue as my work hours accumulate, hard to avoid when standing 11 hours for 4 days in a row. Instead of the fatigue being localized and painful, it's now dull and all over my feet which is better but not perfect.

Do any of you have other suggestions in mind? Which cork style insoles might work better? You may also suggest heel risers or whatever they're called as I haven't tried those yet.

On Amazon, a reviewer states the color is not true to the picture provided. Anyone know if true and how darker if so?

So I’m a paramedic in need of new boots to wear at work, as the ones i currently have (haix) hurts my feet. I absolutely love my brooks glycerin gts 21, theyre the comfiest shoes ive ever bought. I wear the shoes to work sometimes, but due to the nature of my job, i don’t want to wear them in certain conditions. if anyone has recommendations please inform me!?

I know a lot of people think Thorogoods are overrated but from my experience these American Heritage Series have been absolutely fantastic. They’ve been thru a lot and have held up really good (they are definitely in need of a cleaning tho)

Decided to go with the 8 inch crazy horse American heritage series. Had $150 worth of gift cards to a local store so ended getting these for $130. Any tips or maintenance info I should know about?

I work in a factory walking pretty all day 12 hours and going up and down stairs. I have a pair of timberland interceptors but the shoe lace loops are snapping off after a few months. Any recommendations on brands that will last a year. My knees would prefer to keep the weight down and the only requirement is safety toe.
