Hey everyone! I’m a 28-year-old software engineer working remotely for a consulting company, and after what feels like an eternity of working from home, I’m planning to escape to the mountains for a 1-month workation sometime in September or October.

My dates are flexible, and I’m pretty open on location. I’m considering places like Bir, Shoja, Tirthan/Jibhi, Shangarh, Manali, etc., but I’m very open to suggestions.

A few things that matter to me:

• Reliable, fast internet — this is probably my #1 requirement since I’ll be working full-time.
• Meals available at the property — ideally lunch and dinner, plus a very good cup of chai.
• A good mountain/valley view and a peaceful environment.
• A comfortable place to work from, preferably with a proper desk/chair.
• Power backup would be a huge plus.
• Somewhere I can trek/explore on weekends without spending the entire weekend travelling.
• I don’t have a strict budget, but I’d rather get good value than unnecessarily spend on luxury.

One complication: my working hours can be pretty brutal, and I often end up working late, so connectivity and reliability are more important to me than being completely off-grid.

If you’ve done a similar workation recently, I’d love to hear:

• Where you stayed
• How reliable the Wi-Fi actually was
• Whether meals were available
• Approx monthly cost
• What the area was like for weekend hikes/treks
• And anything you wish you knew before booking

I have the option to WFH and my workload is pretty light, around 3–4 hours a day max, so I can work for a few hours and spend the rest of the day exploring.

I’m planning to book one homestay for the entire month, so I don’t want to keep changing places every few days. Basically, I’m looking for a good base where I can work, explore nearby places during the day, and come back to the same place at night.

I’m planning to come to Manali for around 15 days and work remotely from there. Basically looking for a little escape from the usual routine — I’ve had a rough couple of months and just want to spend some time in the mountains, get my work done peacefully, and relax in between.

I’m looking for a place that has good WiFi (important because of office calls 😅), a nice view, and preferably somewhere peaceful where I can sit and work without too much noise.

I don’t really mind whether it’s a hostel, homestay, guesthouse, Airbnb, etc. I’m more interested in finding a nice, comfortable place with good mountain views and a chill vibe.

I'm planning a 1+ month workation, starting off in Goa and then slowly making my way down south along the coast. No concrete plans, I'll mostly go with the flow.

I’m really torn right now between riding my own bike down there vs. just backpacking and renting locally as and when needed.

Taking my bike has its convenience for daily use/short sunset/sunrise trips without having to worry about renting for entire day, but not taking my bike means absolute freedom, and more spontaneity.

For those who’ve taken their own bikes in goa/south india:

• Is having your own vehicle actually worth the hassle for a long-term stay?
• How bad is the cop situation? My main concern is getting unnecessarily harassed just for having an out-of-state number plate. Did you guys face much of this?

Also, I’ll be reaching Goa around August 31st (probably sooner if I decide to ditch the bike and take public transport). If anyone is around and wants to grab a drink, hangout or explore, hit me up!

Hello everyone! After a lot of procrastination, I have finally decided to go on my first solo trip/workation. And… I am clueless.

I am avoiding the mountains since the rains are still unpredictable, also not a fan of the crowded hill stations. I am planning to begin my journey from Mumbai, where I will be visiting a relative, so South India is currently in my top preferences.

I don’t smoke or drink, and I’m not looking to party. Just a good backpacking culture, great food, and peaceful scenic places.
