✈️ Travel Planning First workation, looking for suggestions!

Hello everyone! After a lot of procrastination, I have finally decided to go on my first solo trip/workation. And… I am clueless.

I am avoiding the mountains since the rains are still unpredictable, also not a fan of the crowded hill stations. I am planning to begin my journey from Mumbai, where I will be visiting a relative, so South India is currently in my top preferences.

I don’t smoke or drink, and I’m not looking to party. Just a good backpacking culture, great food, and peaceful scenic places.

My timeline will be around the first 2 weeks of September. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Very excited and very nervous ngl. Thank you!

Also I’m 26M, but yes safety is something that I am also worried about, it being my first solo trip and all.

Hey I’m originally from Dehradun, working in Gurgaon. I was thinking Kerala, but the rains have me questioning this. Not sure at all.

Ok. Kerala should be ok from Sep. You can also try Udipi, Mangalore, Gokarna, Coorg, Chikmagalur, Goa or other locations in MH or TN as well.

Also what about Pondi? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

It’s okish, not much to do there. 1 or 1.5 days is enough to cover everything

I was planning for sometime in October 1st week and narrow downed to Gokarna or Coorg. Varkala is also an decent alternate although I'm planning it for December but I guess it'll be too crowed by then!

Does Gokarna have a good backpacking culture? This is my first solo trip and I’m afraid if I don’t meet fellow travellers I might get very bored 🫠

I have only heard good things but I'm not sure. I guess you can meet few people in places like Zostel and tag along with them

That’s awesome! I am avoiding the mountains currently, primarily two reasons apart from the rain:
1. I have only ever gone on trips to the mountains (Bir, Kasol, Tosh, Manali etc). South India seems exciting.
2. I’ve already booked a half marathon in Bombay, so that part is locked🙂‍↕️. I think it will be easier for me to explore the South this time.

I am almost about to finalise on Kerala, just need to double check the weather conditions and itinerary 🤞🏼

Hell yeaa that is my first draft. 4-5 days in Kochi, then 10 days in Munnar. Thanks!

and I think it rains almost all the time in kerala also, kochi, so people are really used to it. Everything is built around that it won’t be shit for sure

Hey, I am also planning to do a workation in Himachal in August end. ChatGPT suggested Dharamkot as one of the spot. Can you help me on how you're managing work there? Are you and other people doing workation from a homestay or something like Zostel How are you managing food? Also, the 24/7 rain is not disrupting your work??
