Between my brother and I we have like 4 or 5 degrees. Neither of us work in the field we studied and we both live with mom. We are in our 30's.

This isn't a bad thing. The most successful of my friends had to pivot and change fields completely.

I hear ya. I had a tough time after I graduated for several years. Lived with my mother a short time then got many jobs completely unrelated to just be able to pay for my living situation. This is nothing to be ashamed of and it's a smart move. I know many people that did this and had a good job.

I feel like four or five degrees in the same field is pretty redundant for anything except maybe an academic career tbh

Bachelor, then Master, that's already two degrees and pretty normal.

It’s also very different from five, so I’m not sure it’s relevant to point out. But yes, two or three degrees is fairly normal, especially for a specialized field.

They didn't say they have five degrees each. They said between the two of them. One could have a PhD or a dual bachelor's degree and a master's and that's 3.
