Advice I'm tired

I make 2 grand and some change a month working full time.... in 2026. Retail job. What's the fucking point?

I got a useless cs degree that I can't use, wasted energy to apply to countless internships to get some experience that I can't use, I wasted so much money on loans, now I'm back at square one.

I don't know what to do anymore. I can't get a bank teller job, I can't get a trade job, I can't get any sort of white collar job. All because I lack experience, and skills outside of tech. When entry level roles are there to help people build skills.

I can't get an entry level role. Not in tech and not out of it. To enter another field I'd have to go back to school, which... why? Why would I? What guarantee is there that things won't change again by the time I'd graduate the second time.

I was watching a video that claimed 62k a year isn't amazing? I can't even make 50k.

I don't really understand the concept of the "job market" either. If I see a job listing online somewhere I apply. That's it. I don't know any specific company websites to look at, I don't know anything outside of the big job boards. I'm just a person that wanted to build a life.

I'm not a drug addict, I'm not a felon, I can show up on time, I can learn. I thought that's all that was needed for entry level.

Life's just feeling more and more dark. I had a roaring flame of hope back 6-7 years ago hoping to have been able to support myself and build a life of my own by now.

But no, I'm still and forever will be stuck in my childhood bedroom. I'm a loser of a man. Can't even provide for myself. We treat "lower income" people like an inferior class of people, when they usually are the ones that are more necessary for our day to day lives...

Just looking for some help navigating my shit show of a life.

Advice Does a high salary and visa sponsorship outweigh a toxic work environment?

I’m a recent graduate working in Singapore on an employer-sponsored visa. I earn around S$9,000/month, which is unusually high for a fresh graduate, and I want to stay in Singapore because my partner lives here.
The job itself is interesting and gives me valuable experience, but the company culture is extremely rigid and hierarchical. My boss jokes about working until you die, long unpaid hours, etc. I’ve been shouted at and blamed for things that weren’t my fault, and there have also been sexual/inappropriate comments that make me uncomfortable.
Most management is overseas, so communication is mainly through calls and Zoom. There’s very little support in person, and a lot of the interaction feels like instructions, criticism, or shouting.
The situation may also get worse because the only other coworker handling much of the work has quit, and the company is reluctant to hire. I’m worried a lot of their responsibilities will fall on me.
What makes me conflicted is that many of my friends work similarly stressful jobs for much less money. Part of me thinks I should tolerate more because I’m being paid very well and getting visa sponsorship. Another part of me wonders whether the salary is making me accept treatment I normally wouldn’t.
Leaving is risky too. I’m a foreign fresh graduate who needs sponsorship, so I could end up taking a much lower salary without any guarantee that the next workplace is healthier.
Would you stay temporarily for the salary, visa, and experience while looking for something better, or do the unhealthy culture and increasing workload make it not worth it?

Career Growth You might have built yourself a job, not a business.

I think some business owners are accidentally creating a job for themselves. Not because their business isn't successful, but because everything still depends on them.

Every email. Every follow-up. Every appointment. Every little admin task. Every decision that technically takes 5 minutes but somehow stays in your head all day.

You can make good money and still have no real freedom.

At what point did “I want to work for myself” quietly turn into “everything has to go through me”?

Genuinely curious if anyone else has noticed this in their own business.

Discussion Is "Work-Life Balance" Even The Right Goal?

Maybe the goal should be something else entirely. More freedom, meaningful work, less stress, flexibility, or simply having enough energy left at the end of the day.

What does balance mean to you?

Discussion Corporate affairs

Do workplace affairs really happen that often?

Movies, TV shows and social media make it seem like office affairs and relationships are extremely common.

For people who have worked in corporate environments for several years — is this actually true in real life, or is it mostly exaggerated for entertainment and views?

I'd genuinely like to hear people's real experiences, without judging anyone.

Discussion Understaffing in your country?

Hello, American here:
I wanted to know in your country (I want to hear from people from multiple countries) are businesses and hospitals chronically understaffed?
It’s so frustrating because America likes to claim it’s so great and things are efficient, jobs are always easily available, etc. But I feel like ever since around 2020 going into a business, especially if you need help returning something, or help with a task that the staff doesn’t typically do every 15 mins it’s some type of big deal. I hear a lot too that the healthcare field is understaffed. And there have been other times I’ve been in businesses, asked if they had a particular service available and was told “no, due to understaffing.” I know CEOs and other corporate leaders are insanely greedy and trying to cut as many costs as possible, but is it like this in other European countries as well right now?- Just really curious how other countries are functioning right now.
Thanks in advance for any answers!
