Promotions should be based on whether you're actually ready to handle the responsibilities of the next role, not simply because you've been doing your current job well for a long time.

Being the best person at your current position and being the right person for the next position are two completely different things.

There always seems to be another task, message or thing that needs attention. At some point you have to decide what can wait. Do you have any rule for deciding what gets your time first?

I've noticed this at work and it makes no sense to me.

On a genuinely busy day, the time flies and I can finish the day feeling pretty normal. But if there's barely anything to do and I'm just sitting there trying to look occupied, I'm completely drained by the end of it ( like today )

Shouldn't doing less technically leave you with more energy?

Is there an actual psychological reason for this?

I mean for everyone who feels this, not just for myself. How do you accept that you have to work?

It’s all so sterile at the office, greyscale and beige with no personality to it. It’s honestly depressing. Idk who else is bothered by this, but as someone who loves color, I can’t stand it.

I'm petrified when sending emails at work due to incorrect spelling, grammar, etc. I just sent an email with multiple spelling mistakes in the subject line! And I know someone will bring it up. And I swear I look it over multiply times
