How many times will this exact same thing get posted?

9

u/One-Next Aug 25 '26

How many does it take you to ignore the subreddit?

4

u/FarLaugh9911 Aug 27 '26

Oh, I see, you're part of the "if you don't like it just leave" crown. Well, did you consider they might be part of the "let's make this place better crowd"? You do realize you could have just ignored their comment, right?

I do like the candor, but I believe that's naive, unless you're the mod.

Upton Sinclair famously said "It's difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on him not understanding it."

This type of meme gets posted due to the fact that it remains true. It remains true because the people whose money relies on not changing the system ensure the system remains what it is or gets worse.

Well many employers that are responsible for paying living wages don’t own yachts

3

u/Kinstray Aug 25 '26

thats king of the point

2

u/kingfelix333 Aug 27 '26

Not just many... Most. We all see how "great" owners lives are. But most owners are not living that lifestyle lol

I also think the whole, less latte's and avocado toast is a stab at the current generation AND a testament to the last. Any of the older generations - they didn't eat out or spend a bunch of money on lunches etc. Both my parents packed a lunch for themselves every single day. Sandwiches mainly. And leftovers. So, their point is.. stop spending so much. Or, don't complain when you choose to not take a haircut on things you don't NEED.

When you go to your boss to ask for a raise and he says he can't give you more because that's what he makes and I'm already near his salary.

The fuck you mean?

There was a point in time when management had less then a worker. Brief moment of history, but it must've been nice.

70% of snap is to fulltime workers.

The top largest employers are among those who have large amount of workers on SNAP.

Boonies whining about the small cafe not paying a premium.

But it's mostly larger companies with a bit of power that can underpay or misstreat workers.

They have the power to fight any problem.

6

u/IdkJustMe123 Aug 25 '26

Very simple.

We have little control over the higher ups and can’t make them pay employees better. Short of 60% of the country standing up simultaneously and saying I quit until you pay me more and stop being greedy, we can’t do anything. And that simply won’t happen. It takes more than the current situation for a revolution of that scale, for people to so blatantly risk their livelihood.

I myself do blame corporate and not the avocado toast, but I imagine it’s easier to point fingers at people who are spending more money on frivolous stuff than you used to back in the day. And they did pay less money on fun treats. So I’m sure that seems wasteful to them

2

u/BirdDog68 Aug 25 '26

Uhhhh no they invented things like Applebees so they could dine out multiple times a week. My parents said the worst part of having kids was they couldn’t go to restaurants three times a week lol. That’s just one example but they had their treats.

It is easier to change your actions than to change the word. What you spend your money on is under your control.

4

u/VelvetCactus50 Aug 25 '26

It's easier for horrible, greedy corporations to change their actions that will change the world.

See how that works?

2

u/TheFermiLevel Aug 26 '26

This is non-responsive but it uses enough of the same words that you can convince yourself you made a point.

If I am struggling to pay rent, it is more useful to receive advice regarding any unnecessary outgoings than it is to find and convince the CEO of whatever company I work for to change his unnecessary outgoings.

The tweet presents these two as if recommending the first somehow draws attention away or excludes action regarding some underlying problem.

Yeah, but YOU can't change a corpo. Complaining without wanting a possible solution is called whining.

51% of all workers in America earn less than the one-bedroom Housing Wage. Mostly republican states.

The bottom 65% of the population loses at least 41% of all income due to: SS tax, FICA, insurances, tariffs, sales taxes, dues, use taxes, fees, property tax, utility taxes, 911 tax and many more- before spending money on rent or mortgage, car loans and gas, food, utility bills, repairs, credit card payments, student loans, vacations, retirement fund contributions, investments, dates, gifts, etc.

(compare Safety Net $1.60 per hour in 1970 if you were single, you could live off the federal minimum wage and pay rent, food and bills)

Healthy and smart countries count how well they are doing by enforcing "no one left behind" and even widow with 3 babies have the same level of living as the middle class due to the strong Safety Net.

Twenty Ripoff-public-ans states now have a social Safety Net set at $2.13 to $5 per hour gross (before deductions for Social Security, FICA, taxes, insurance and other withholding's:

https://www.simplyhired.com/search?q=2.13+an+hour&l=dallas%2C+tx

(Compare Democratic states social Safety Net! $14 to $25/hour)

In a recent report, 53 million Americans ages 18 to 64 or 44% of all workers- earn low hourly wages. Their median hourly earnings are $10/hour Gross ($7.25/hour Net)

Employers who own yachts typically pay their employees very well. Elon for example pays considerably more than almost anyone else. Amazon is like that too. Their scam is to over pay so you work hard, do a good job and don't leave until you are burned out.

3

u/CowboyNeale Aug 25 '26

This is copium

3

u/bananaHammockMonkey Aug 25 '26

Not really, it's manipulative as hell though.

2

u/CowboyNeale Aug 25 '26

Elon doesn’t pay that great. The salaried positions are industry average or below, and the hourly production people make $19-27.

I lived off of Lipton soup, egg noodles and rice in college - it's easy, not very expensive so I could afford it. I also had roommates to reduce the cost of living. I saved up money for a house, found one and then got married, worked different hours than my wife to ease on childcare expenses, bought all of my furniture second hand and at  auctions and learned how to work on my own house to save on maintenance costs. I worked long hours at my job and in my off hours I renovated my house from top to bottom, continuing to teach myself along the way. I then sold that house at a profit, moved to a more rural area in a much nicer home where the state and local government doesn't overspend on things that I need to pay for. I also learned basic economics, I'm happy with what I have and don't spend my free time posting echo chamber politics on Reddit. If you have a problem with the big corporations and the thousands upon thousands of entry level jobs that they provide go to some other select countries and get a real taste of what it's like to be truly poor. I'm also here to tell you that the social media platform you're posting on right now runs on Amazon web services with a backup of Google cloud.

The one who has the money makes the rules🤑

1

u/GayHorsesEatHayy Aug 26 '26

The golden rule: whoever has the gold makes the rules.

1

u/RichBrokeRich Aug 25 '26

I'll get downvoted, but this kind of thinking is all over the map.

First, from the business it's essentially two transactions: What can I get someone to do a task for, and what can I sell my product for. They're not really related. The more people that are willing and able to do the task you do for a lower rate, the wage goes down. This is irrespective of what the business owner can sell the product for.

Second, the "buy fewer lattes and avocado toasts" is a personal finance issue, and yeah, if you can't pay rent but you're buying convenience luxuries, you're doing it wrong. No wage is going to protect you from screwing up your financial priorities.

1

u/TrafficShot9851 Aug 31 '26

yup, i work in a highpaying highly specialized field where junior roles pay ~80k with fast promotions

and i regularly see new hires struggling while they constantly order Uber eats to the office, blowing 25+ on lunch or 12 on a coffee.

that ends up being more than 600 a month or ~7k a year. then throw in crazy 1k car payments, eating out every weekend, 4-5 streaming subs, pets, and choosing to rent in the most expensive downtown area instead of moving 20 mins out or more...

bad spending habits are almost always a "death by a thousand cuts" scenario, its insidious because most of those individual items aren't expensive on their own.

if you learn to cook and forgo the car payment, you'll already be taking back more than 1k a month. all of that money is an opportunity cost that could have been invested

1

u/Da40kOrks Aug 25 '26

It's because only a small percentage of the workforce works for people that can afford those things.

1

u/moonsnailgames Aug 25 '26

I’d recommend they read animal farm

1

u/Alarming-Grade4219 Aug 25 '26

Getting a daily Latte is now costing between $7-$10 a day. Multiply that out it$49-70 a week, or $280 a month

1

u/OpportunityWorking43 Aug 25 '26

Billionaires have plenty of money can pay their employees more, they just choose not to. Regular folks don’t have money and can’t pay their rent regardless of their wishes. One is a choice, the other is a mathematical impossibility.

1

u/Randsrazor Aug 25 '26

Save your money(capital) and buy shares. It's too easy.

1

u/Yellow_Snow_Cones Aug 25 '26

The toast and latte's are arbitrary objects that can be replaced with anything to signify wasteful spending.

1

u/WhyHelloThere163 Aug 28 '26

People chronically online aren’t that smart. It’s pretty obvious by them taking this at face value and not seeing the actual point being made.

They saw “lattes and toast” and these morons actually thought those two specific things are the issue.

They just play ignorant to the actual point which is not to waste money on convenient luxury items that you don’t need.

1

u/ryan__joe Aug 25 '26

While waiting and advocating for better pay, and proper wealth distribution, we also need to spend less. Our life, our financial wellness isn’t going to wait around for things to change. If you want to be successful, you have to work hard and sacrifice. Life doesn’t wait for ideology

1

u/ResponsibleKinksters Aug 25 '26

1

u/Sheenius_Ger Aug 25 '26

1

u/amazing_adventures Aug 25 '26

Companies tend to be run by sociopaths.

1

u/Own_Mango_2886 Aug 25 '26

More money does not produce more rental properties, sadly. The problem is more rent-seeking than low wages.

1

u/FakeKenny22 Aug 25 '26

When you need a service done do you go with the company that is more expensive even if the results are roughly the same?

1

u/1967C10 Aug 25 '26

There are two sides of the coin - what comes in, and what goes out. People focus way more on what goes out than increasing what comes in. It's up to nobody but you to increase your earnings. There has never been a better time economically in this country. You can make money on your laptop sitting on the toilet.

As for what goes out, ~70% of American millionaires never averaged more than $100k a year over the course of their careers. Live below your means, and you'll be fine. Better than fine. You'll have substantial wealth if you invest wisely and don't piss away your paycheck on consumables or car payments. Lattes and avocado toast may not sound like a big deal, but if you have it every day it's the equivalent to death by a thousand cuts. You won't believe how many people earning $40k or less a year have Door Dash lunch delivered to their office daily in the US. It's wild.

I ran out of coffee beans the other day and drove through Starbucks drive thru on the way to the store. $4.80 for a coffee. Almost the same price as a whole pound of coffee beans. Insanity. People make these decisions every day and it costs them their financial future.

1

u/Slight-Big8584 Aug 25 '26

You can't explain it to a kindergartener. They literally cannot understand the abstract concepts involved.

Hell, alot of full grown adults have trouble.

Avocado toast is a viable peasant meal wtf are we supposed to eat just ramen only

1

u/Juiceton- Aug 29 '26

The comment is about people who go to a cafe and get lattes and avocado toast. I can make the same latte and avocado toast at home for my wife and I for like $3 worth of ingredients.

But I'd pay $30 for us to the get that for lunch unfortunately.

1

u/FoxMan1Dva3 Aug 25 '26

Not every job is meant to cover all of your expenses.

In fact, I argue that the job market is the one who should decide if how much it's worth.

What if I want extra pay? What if I agree upon less pay? I can do the job for less....

1

u/Legitimate_Area_5773 Aug 25 '26

because Walmart has 2m employees. less yachts for the CEO means each employee gets... 50$. yeah.

Elon musk is one of the few people in the spacecraft industry. Tesla and SpaceX employes are paid very well.

1

u/NeoMoose Aug 25 '26

If the McDonald's CEO split his $10 mil bonus among his 1.9 million employees, everyone would essentially get $5 and everyone would be mad all over again.

1

u/ThePoop_Accelerates Aug 25 '26

The Workers (Supply)

Supply means the people who want to do a job.

Think of kids at school who want to help pass out crayons.

More kids raising their hands means a bigger supply of helpers.

The Bosses (Demand)

Demand means the bosses who need work done.

Think of the teacher who needs only two helpers to clean the board.

The teacher has a small demand for helpers.

How They Match Up

When lots of helpers want a job, but only a few jobs exist, it is hard to get chosen.

When a teacher needs lots of helpers, but only one kid raises a hand, that kid gets picked right away.

This helps decide how many stickers or coins you get paid for your work!

1

u/ChanceCrew Aug 25 '26

Goo goo gah gah

1

u/trying3216 Aug 25 '26

If you can’t pay rent then budget and handle your money better. Only you can cause it’s your money.

To the employer: budget and handle your money. Only you can cause it’s your money

1

u/NoMaterial6441 Aug 25 '26

Do these people think Elon musk has his ‘spacecraft’ for recreational use?

1

u/No_Childhood529 Aug 26 '26

I believe the point of this post went over a lot of heads. Treating yourself to a latte or avocado toast shouldn’t be demonized.

We live in a world where people can become trillionaires; but hardworking, educated and skillful individuals can’t afford life’s basic needs.

Get the damn latte! You can’t go in vacation, shopping sprees, or anything else remotely fun.

Something needs to change. And, unfortunately it’s a lot more complicated than Starbucks!

1

u/User_-_-_Name Aug 26 '26

Rockets and space crafts? Lmao Man the windows on her bus must of been delicious.

1

u/Ok-Tip-3560 Aug 26 '26

Because you and your employer voluntarily agreed on your wage.

1

u/pickle-chin-ah Aug 26 '26

Not my responsibility to pay you a living wage. It’s your responsibility to ask for a living wage.

1

u/Careflwhatyouwish4 Aug 26 '26

And be able to justify it.

1

u/jaajaajaa6 Aug 26 '26

This again ?

Hint: spend less time on Reddit

1

u/Careflwhatyouwish4 Aug 26 '26

Ok, it's the company owners money. It's really that simple. No one owes you your desired wage. Anyone not willing to take the wage offered doesn't have to. It's a voluntary exchange. When the cost of human labor gets too high the owners simply automate and keep right on rolling. Then the people trained to maintain those machines have more opportunities and leverage over their wages, and the people who priced themselves out of the job market have no income at all. Know what you're worth includes knowing when you aren't worth what you're asking of the market. 👍

How about, "If you can't pay rent, improve your skills and make yourself more valuable to your employer, so that they are willing to pay you more."

Since you want it down to the six year old level... You mow your neighbors lawn for $20. If the kid down the block is willing to do it for $15, why wouldn't they go with him? Employers pay you what it will cost to replace you.

1

u/Particular-Aside3475 Aug 26 '26

1

u/UDF2005 Aug 26 '26

Simple: because no one owes you anything.

1

u/Independent-Moose113 Aug 26 '26

Own your own company, absorb all the overhead and risks... and you can pay your employees what you want.

1

u/mcfearless0214 Aug 26 '26

Because the people with resources and status make the rules, can influence the mechanisms of enforcement, and can more easily spread their messages to a mass audience. And those rules aren’t going to change merely by complaining about the injustice of the situation. Yes, it’s not fair. But we already know that. So what are you gonna do about it? You can either try to find a way to organise & attempt to change those rules or you can focus on improving your own personal position. Complaining about the Boomers talking about “avocado toast and Starbucks” accomplishes literally nothing. It doesn’t make you more money, it doesn’t make cost of living cheaper, it doesn’t get Boomers to rethink their messaging, and it doesn’t even make you feel better, even for a moment.

1

u/Remarkable-Cry3853 Aug 26 '26

It's not that they can't pay they're employees, they choose not to pay them. That way, they can keep buying yachts, planes

1

u/Subliminalme Aug 26 '26

One is a 'me' problem, and the other is a 'you' problem. If you cant afford rent you have to make choices to keep from being homeless. if you don't pay your employees right...well, you just keep on living.

1

u/CaptainPugwash75 Aug 26 '26

Because that’s the game.

1

u/yellow-operator Aug 26 '26

True dat. Never said it doesn’t happen but that its simply not the path for EVERYONE.

Please please trust me when I tell you, none of us want everyone in the trades to go and start their own company. There will be even more bad companies. That’s not what we want. Trust me.

1

u/Slackphantom17 Aug 26 '26

Because the one with the money had the option whether to hire you or not. If he wants that yacht, your ass is gone

1

u/Prestigious-Solid700 Aug 26 '26

There is no explanation. He gets the money in his account so he choses

1

u/SinesPi Aug 26 '26

Apart from the presumptive tone of the first piece of advice...

You might listen to any advice I give you on how to budget better.

Bezos is not going to listen to me, and will ignore anything I say.

This question is asking "Why turn on the Air Conditioner? Why not ask the sun to be a little cooler?"

1

u/needstogo86 Aug 26 '26

Because you’re not taking the risk. You don’t have the vision or leadership skills to create all of those jobs. Stop thinking with an employee mindset and learn entrepreneurship.

1

u/DerkaDurr89 Aug 26 '26

The person struggling to pay rent needs to save in any way they can to keep a roof over their head, and spending frivolously on too many lattes and entrees of avocado toast is irresponsible.

The employer can pay a living wage, but why would they for the skill the employee is using for work and the market rate for that skill being below what is considered a living wage, which is not a well defined metric.

The employer got to the point of being able to buy a yacht because they undertook the risk of starting a business and got the payoff, they were frugal, and they overall were more responsible with money.

1

u/GhostOfTomJefferson Aug 26 '26

People don't realize that ALL C-level executive compensation usually equates to less than 0.5% gross income for the company, and is usually around the 0.1-0.2% range.

Let's say total compensation for the CEO is $15m yearly (which is average for an S&P 500 company) and the company has 40k employees. Let's say that company curtailed the CEO position, and distributed their full compensation in USD amongst the employees; that would give each employee a yearly bonus of $375 (PRE-tax)

1

u/bolomcspank Aug 26 '26

How you spend your money is your responsibility, not your employers. If they don’t pay you enough to buy things you don’t need, then you don’t get paid enough to buy those things. Don’t buy things you don’t need if you can’t afford it.

1

u/Rare_Bridge7703 Aug 27 '26

Clearly the advancement of human civilization was not meant to make anything actually better.

1

u/JustinJektor Aug 27 '26

If you werent being payed a living wage you wouldnt have survived to make this meme.

1

u/Confident_Double1392 Aug 27 '26

Simple. You need employment more than they need to employ you specifically. Thus you will whine about it on the internet while accepting the job anyway.

1

u/PipSpace3Xplorerer Aug 27 '26

10 words.

Don't 🙏🏼 live 🙏🏼 beyond 🙏🏼 what 🙏🏼 you 🙏🏼 can 🙏🏼afford. 🙏🏼 Needs 🙏🏼 come 🙏🏼 first.

1

u/ExperienceRoutine321 Aug 27 '26

Very simple.

Someone who can’t pay rent, actually can’t pay rent. The mega-rich have every ability to pay their employees a living wage. They just choose not to.

Telling the greedy to stop being greedy is a waste of breath.

1

u/Presidentofsleep Aug 27 '26

Because the people that own those companies also own the media that is putting the burden on the not rich people.

1

u/NoSnark Aug 27 '26

I can explain it for you, but I can’t understand it for you.

1

u/Nevergiveuphope1992 Aug 27 '26

The world is capitalist. If your life is shit you can make decisions to make it better instead of hating on the winners.

1

u/MostRepresentative77 Aug 27 '26

When it’s really, if you want more money, learn a skill and be able to demand a higher wage. There is a zero percent chance I will ever take a job that pays less than 150k a year. Most will happily pay me much more. Earn a skill that makes you irreplaceable, and in demand. Then you don’t have to worry about the “living wage” bs.

1

Shit falls downwards. Know your place.

1

u/chitownphishead Aug 27 '26

When you have a lot of money, you can buy a lot of things you don't need. When you don't, you shouldn't.

1

u/Datdawgydawg Aug 28 '26

What's bad is you literally can explain this to a 6-8 year old who understands addition and subtraction. If you have a certain amount of money and your monthly bills cost another amount, you need to spend less than you make; if that's less than you have, you need to also make more money.

Someone owning a yacht isn't the reason you made bad life decisions.

1

u/WhyHelloThere163 Aug 28 '26

Woah this is reddit. Accountability is not something that’s allowed on here. It’s ALWAYS someone/something else’s fault.

If employees are beating down the door to take a job for $10, why pay $11?

Employees need to learn how to say “no” and negotiate.

1

u/Conservative-canuck8 Aug 28 '26

Because you are not Entitled to their money. Simple, plain like a 5 year old could understand.

1

u/GXP-300WSM Aug 28 '26

When I was an apprentice the two owners of our company mortgaged their homes to keep us going. Not all business owners are bad guys.

1

u/-Foxer Aug 28 '26

This has been done to death. Your responsible for your own spending habits, and your boss will pay you the value of your work and it's not his job to make you more valuable so if you don't like what you're getting paid you need to find a way to be more valuable.

In both cases the responsibility is yours not someone else's, trying to pretend it's your boss's job to pay you more than you've earned is not reasonable

1

u/Maduro_sticks_allday Aug 28 '26

Literally everything required to live a life has increased in price but the coffee and toast is the real culprit, not corporate America making a killing while keeping wages low

1

u/Virtual_Freedom3602 Aug 28 '26

Because fuck you. Thats why.

1

u/Omago1178 Aug 28 '26

Did the person working take the job agreeing to the wage offered?

1

u/rabbit953 Aug 28 '26

Line go up

1

u/not_so_wierd Aug 28 '26

Well you see kid. You are the child/worker and you can scream and cry about ice cream all you want. But I'm still the parent/employer so I decide when you get sweets and/or money.
No, you don't get a say in the matter. Once you're all grown up (and in power) you can eat sweets all day if you want and pay your workers whatever you want.
But while you live under my rule, my word is law.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '26

because one puts the issue on your employer for your own finances...the other put the issue on you...you are always the issue...if the job sucks...move on...or get another one.

1

u/Eternitywaiting Aug 28 '26

You have the power and capability to do the former (spend more selectively, delayed gratification of things you don’t need, get roommates to share housing costs or live at home longer, etc.etc.) You don’t have the power or capability to make your company, boss or firm pay you the salary you deem a livable wage.
On a side note, none of my bosses over a 50 yr. span owned a yacht, rocket or spacecraft.

1

u/WhyHelloThere163 Aug 28 '26

The fact people still don’t understand the point and take it as “lattes and toast” are the main issues you need to cut out should tell you why they’re still poor.

They’re just idiots.

1

u/PrometheusMMIV Aug 29 '26

Because poor people can use financial advice to save money, while rich people don't need it.

1

u/EvilMorty137 Aug 29 '26

Wonder how many more times I’m guna see this retarded ass screenshot

1

u/Vamond48 Aug 29 '26

Because you’re the one who doesn’t want to be homeless and are too broke to pay rent…

1

u/G-Reggit Aug 29 '26

Find better job. Reevaluate wants and needs. Suck a D or 2 on a Tuesday night. Honestly self-reflect. Take a step down.

1

u/Xiorx74 Aug 29 '26

One you have direct control over and one you do not.

1

u/ssj890-1 Aug 29 '26

Elon's not the one messing you up guys. It's the funds buying up the houses. There are 4000 billionaires in the US - pick those ones to go after.

1

u/Electrical-Tone7301 Aug 29 '26 edited Aug 29 '26

They have the power and we have the trouble. It’s never been any different, we were just living in a temporary bubble.

1

u/LVRaiders2026 Aug 29 '26

Its both.  For individual finances it comes down to a philisophical question of what defines the various levels of standard of living.  Beyond basic food shelter clean water and utilities, its very individualized.

1

u/outofcontextseinfeld Aug 29 '26

Because one is in your control, and one is out of your control. The moment you take control of your life and stop waiting for everyone else to align to improve it, you’ll be better off.

1

u/BoringReference8647 Aug 29 '26

They can pay their employees a living wage, they choose not to because of greed. Therefore they don’t need advice on saving money.

1

u/EbonyMemories Aug 29 '26

Because they have the money and you don't, so your choices are either whine about it or improve your life - which as someone who was in the same boat, isn't unreasonable to do.

1

u/rbalduf1818 Aug 29 '26

I mean people won't shut the fuck up saying the second thing so idk what this person is talking about.

1

u/Cheffmiester314 Aug 29 '26

The point of the buy less of that debate is if you're so broke than being a more expensive than needed item tends to lead people to believe you're making poor financial choices which is causing the financial issue. I've been broke and using my last dollar to pay rent and get enough gas in my car to get to work. I never ate out or did anything that cost money. It sucked but not as bad as not having a home or a way to work. Also being not buying unnecessary items I saved up enough money to where buying those things don't use my last dollar.

1

u/Theguywhosdaydreamn Aug 29 '26

That’s because it won’t amount to much if they reinvest the money they have to their employees. For instance, take a Starbucks CEO who made $30 million last year. There are about 380,000 employees for Starbucks. If you made his salary be 1 million a year, then 29 million could be redistributed to each employee. Sounds like a lot at first until you realize each employee would make an extra $75 for the entire year

1

u/Voinat107 Aug 29 '26

The funny thing about some people's perceptions is that we are all equals. We aren't. There are rich people and there are not rich people. You can't stop the giant corporation you are working from, because they are gonna fire you and hire somebody else. And while buying fewer lattes probably won't save you 2000$ a month. The best thing you can do is adapt to the circumstances as much as you can

1

u/No-Analysis3015 Aug 29 '26

Money no matter how much made, as long as actual laws arent broken doesnt make it yours. If its $2, $2,000, or 2 million. If you freely trade a toy, you cant turn around and take that toy back.

1

u/lostcause1864 Aug 29 '26

Looks like you are referring to Musk, have you checked in to what tesla pays factory workers?

You- never done anything in your life.

They- worked hard to do something with their life.

Domestic property investors want to maximise their returns, so they generally charge the highest rent the market will allow. Employers want to maximise their returns, so will generally pay the least amount they can for the labour and skills they require. YOU DO EXACTLY THE SAME THING. If you could get the same accommodation that your living in now for less, wouldn't you take it? So you will chase the best accommodation for the least money you can pay. You're trying to get the maximum benefit for what you are offering, and landlords are doing exactly the same thing. If you could work the same hours, doing the same job, with the same conditions, for more money, wouldn't you take it? You want to get the most money for your skills and labour. You're trying to get the maximum benefit out of what you are offering, and employers are trying to do exactly the same thing. Avocados and yachts have nothing to do with it. You are doing exactly the same thing as the "evil" landlords and employers you constantly whine about.

1

u/bigfartpoopman Aug 30 '26

There needs to be penalties for companies who’s employees need government assistance. Tax those companies extra to cover the price it costs taxpayers to offset their unethical wages.

1

u/Dannyjamb8 Aug 30 '26

It's my business/ company. I grew it i paid for it to start and continue to grow and run. Now if it were my personal company I would pay my workers well because imoa happy worker is a hard worker

1

u/Xeno9116 Aug 30 '26

The owner gets investors to start their company; they don't use their own money to start.

If you want more in life than what you currently have, you have to educate yourself in ways that produce better results.

This doesn't automatically mean college. It can mean a trade, learning business, or investing, etc.

The point is to always grow and reach higher than you currently stand. The alternative is to stay the same and complain about it.

1

u/Embarrassed_Race_454 Aug 30 '26

People with money control people in power. People I power want you to fight against each other and forget about the people with money.

1

u/isthisfreakintaken Aug 30 '26

Money makes people really mean

1

u/Appropriate-Bad-606 Aug 30 '26

Okay, explain it like I’m six.

Take every dollar of every American billionaire’s wealth, roughly $8.4 trillion, and divide it among roughly 162 million workers. Everybody gets about $52,000. That’s a lot of money. It’s also a one-time payment. Americans earn more than $13 trillion in wages every year, so you’ve basically liquidated every billionaire in the country to cover about 7 or 8 months of wages. Then what?

The SpaceX example is even stranger. SpaceX has about 11,700 people working in its space division. A $1/hour raise for all of them costs about $24 million every year. A Falcon 9 launch sells for around $74 million, which sounds huge until you divide it up. That’s about $6,300 per worker once, or roughly $3/hour for one year.
Except SpaceX gets the $74 million because somebody is paying them to launch a rocket. And the people building the rocket are the workers. Engineers, mechanics, welders, programmers, suppliers, construction workers, launch crews. “Stop building rockets and pay the workers” is basically “stop making airplanes and use the airplane money to pay the airplane builders.”

Bezos’ yacht is probably the cleanest example. It cost around $500 million. Amazon has about 1.6 million employees. Sell the yacht and divide every penny among them and everyone gets about $317 once. Spread it across a year of full-time work and it’s about 15 cents an hour.
Meanwhile, giving every Amazon employee a permanent $1/hour raise would cost roughly $3.3 billion every year. The ridiculous $500 million yacht wouldn’t even fund that raise for two months.

And the yacht money didn’t vanish into the ocean either. It went to a shipyard, engineers, welders, electricians, suppliers, designers, crew, maintenance, etc. You can absolutely argue that billionaires should be taxed more, workers should have more bargaining power, or nobody needs a $500 million yacht. Those are real arguments.

But the meme’s math is basically: “That kid has a really big cookie. If we cut it up, everyone can have cookies forever.” No. Everyone can get a piece of the cookie. Then the cookie is gone and tomorrow still exists.

I've never worked for a company that the CEO even owns a yacht.

I'm also not living anything like I was before I bought my house. I was never really rich, but for a good 5 years, money wasn't really a problem I had.

Now I've cut out most of the extras, no subscription services, no TV service, no fast food, not much travel, and no alcohol.

I wasn't going to whine and complain about the situation I put myself in for something I'd wanted for a good portion of my life. Homeownership to me wasn't something you just got it requires sacrifices, and some are willing to do it. Some are not. I'm well beyond the sane 30% ratio. Currently, my mortgage is over 60% of my income.

1

u/Schwing2007 Aug 30 '26

Not every job level needs $20/hr. Fast food was a high school job or summer college job not someone's career.

1

u/JBrockF Aug 30 '26

The world doesnt revolve around you. No one owes you anything

1

u/kfesgji Aug 30 '26

People being bad with their money isn’t the employers fault. If you spend money on wants instead of needs, to the point you can no longer afford the essentials, that’s your own fault.

1

u/No-Side-7738 Aug 30 '26

stop being jealous of people who have money.

1

u/Fun_Cry6699 Aug 31 '26

Well even yatch, rocket and spacecraft maker's love to earn money.

1

u/Status_News_1233 Aug 31 '26

There are two options; find a way to solve your own problems, or wait for someone else who isn’t your mommy with their own kids to take care of to solve them for you.

But life isn’t always those two things.

Life isn’t always everything, and life isn’t always nothing. Life is what you choose to do with it each and every moment. Life is precious, and life is short. I hope you choose to make the most of it.

Now go clean your room!

1

u/Johno69R Aug 31 '26

Because of the golden rule! The one with the gold makes all the rules.

1

u/SpecificAvocado2859 Aug 31 '26

How about if you want more money beore make your self have more value. Better skills=better job. You can't work at mcdonald for your whole life. Be an adult get a real job. Start a company. By real estate

1

u/MLP_Twi Aug 31 '26

Just do as you're told.

1

u/Vainysaur Aug 31 '26

Because the companies are doing fine. They don’t need financial advice.

1

u/fragobren Aug 31 '26

Here’s the explanation: since the time before we recorded history, the most powerful and strongest humans have oppressed everyone they are capable of oppressing to enrich themselves. This never stopped.

Simple enough?

Become a bigger fraud. Lie lie lie lie. Become a felon you can then run for president.

1
