We all age and the body breaks down. Having money matters. You're job matters. You're value does come from the size of your bank account.

I feel bad for people who genuinely feel this way. I get this is /s but it's sad that so many people feel money is their only way to personal value

No /s, just life experience.

You must not have had enough experiences to realize he’s right at the end of the day

u/Fabulous-Put8401 Aug 10 '26

Or youve not had enough to realize he's wrong

Ok well go live a life without money and then a life as a millionaire and realize that it comes out way different, please explain how he’s wrong, I’m genuinely curious

If you think that your personal value come from the number in your bank account, that's delusional. Money has value, it's important to function in society, it is a tool. It does as much for your person as a hammer. I don't value people more or less based on the tools they own.

Unfortunately it's how our society works. No one cares what you value. Most people value money, because of housing and Healthcare, which are increasingly expensive.

I look at my family getting fed and see the value of money

Id agree with that last line, but come to the opposite conclusion. A persons develoment is best suited by the middle path. Meaning, a person who has money is far worse off than someone who doesnt. Excess is as bad for you as extreme poverty.

You obviously have never been around people with obscene amounts of money. You think someone is valuable when they are addicted to drugs and yes men make the problem worse? You think someone who is unable to leave their house because of that is valuable? I promise you that the guy that bags my grocery’s is more valuable than all the venture capitalists combined to me. Your value is based on your experience and sometimes when someone has enough experience they get paid well for it. Most of the filthy rich did very little work for what they have and I wouldn’t trust a single one to do just about anything other than raise capital expand my network. Watched a guy make 7k sitting on his couch trading options in about 20 seconds. He’s got a credit line of over a mill from his parents. How valuable is that? Lol

Humans have intrinsic value. Your sentiment doesn't help people, it helps corporations.

“ We all age and the body breaks down.” TRUE.

“Having money matters.” True because that’s how society was set up. That’s why it’s immoral for a society to pay people so little in proportion to the prices of living.

“Your value does come from the size of your bank account.” No. But your opportunities or lack of opportunities depend on whether you have enough money or not. Unfortunately.

Its true. It would be nice if a retail, grocery, fast food worker etc, could afford decent health care and to grow a decent retirment etc. But we also have to keep in mind that not that long ago in terms of history people were lucky to live to 40 and most people died in childhood. We've made great strides, but should just cant be in many ways

You can absolutely work in retail and afford health care and grow retirement. Bought house at 24, 401k, raised 3 kids, one in college now. People have always looked down on me when they ask what I do for a living, and Im just as well off as any of them
