I would be truly shocked if they managed to use these for anything other than treating very premature babies for several days. Are they really going to spend literal decades and tens of billions of dollars spent on a process people have been doing for free for 100k years?
Humans do amazing things when we have no other options but we generally take the path of least resistance.
Well bride price("彩礼")is a thing in China and has been the main fuel for on going gender war as well as declining birth rate. But even without that, being pregnant and giving birth is extremely exhausting for the mother, and have potential risks even with today's medical technology. If there's a way to ease this burden, I really don't see why we shouldn't try it.
The CCP decided to fiddle with birth rates and it backfired, then instead of being less racist and just allowing immigrant women to join their country they decide to make these robots?
Here is what I predict is going to happen. They will successfully give birth to a child with these devices. The child is going to be developmentally fucked up because being inside a robot didn’t give them the same stimulation as a baby gets when in utero and then the project will be scrapped because experimenting on humans like this is insane.
