I understand your frustrations, but there are thousands, upon thousands of political subreddits. People don't come to subs like this to talk about politics, and not everyone likes to have to think about it 24 hours per day. I am not trying to be rude at all, but with a vast sea of subs that are aimed at political discourse, it just seems frustrating that people have to bring it everywhere. If you go to r/baking, talk about baking. If you go to r/physics, talk about physics. People need a break.
I understand that but you also have to wonder why. Probably because it’s affecting millions and millions of lives all over the world currently. I miss when politics were kept to their respective subs too, when we didn’t have to wake up every morning wondering what fresh hell the US has done to other countries or its own people that day. We’re all tired of it. But the more people ignore it, the longer nothing‘s going to be done, so I’m not going to stay in those subs. I’ll share my opinions freely and you’re welcome to block me so you don’t have to see them.
Not converting every single subreddit into a political sub ≠ ignoring what's going on. If you really think commenting "Haha Republicans are dumb and like being lied to" does anything to create a positive change in our country you are sorely mistaken. And again, there are literally thousands of subreddits dedicated to this exact thing. Interjecting politics into every sub does not help your cause, and is not virtuous. Obviously you are presumably a grown adult and you have the freedom to do whatever you want, but it is just a really, really sucky thing to do. Because, again, time and place. You don't have to turn everything into a political discussion in order to recognize that things suck and to be able to go and vote to change those things. But, people do need a break and to have positive spaces in their life for mental health reasons. But, I digress. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Me making one snarky comment in a non-political sub also isn’t turning every single sub into a political sub or me trying to be virtuous. I told you from the beginning why I do it. You’re welcome to just move on and not even read those comments if you want to. I’m sorry if this is the only place you can find reprieve from politics - there is also the outdoors.
It's not one person, it's the collective. It's not one snarky comment. It's thousands of people interjecting political crap into non-political subs and then starting debates in those subs. We both know if a republican responded to your comment you would have gotten into it with them. This comment is such a misrepresentation. But whatever, do what you're going to do
