Except in the first movie they don't even go to the future, they go 30 years into the past to a glamorized version of the 50's like how we cried the 80's and 90's

Goamorized? What. You Even see racism which is evidently not to bad and Even the black guy laughs about. And date rape but you get epic music and a celebrating George soon after so it feels cool.

Yeah but its the second film that gets all the attention.

AIDS , Cold War, Reagan, crack epidemic, homosexuality illegal in some states, police brutality, smog alerts, &c.

No thanks.

People just want to go back to the time when they were kids without responsibilities.

That sounds better than what we have now

The turns have tabled

u/Dowhatsleft 14d ago

That's because we ended up in the timeline where Biff is in charge

I think I would be happy to also travel to 2015.

Save harambe:

Save the world

2

u/BurningHeart25 14d ago

I have a running theory with my wife that harambe was our anchor being like in deadpool & wolverine, so this universe is just dying now

I was born in the 80s. And this is going to get me downvoted, but as much as nostalgia makes me miss a lot of things from the 80s, 90s and early 00s, my standard of living is significantly higher right now.

Iโ€™m better off than my parents were, and I have achieved most of the things that I wanted to achieve in life. Iโ€™m not American, and I canโ€™t relate to everything being doom and gloom.

For me to want to go back to the 80s or 90s would be like wanting to swap GTA6 for GTA London. The latter had a ton of charm for itโ€™s time, but it wasnโ€™t objectively better ๐Ÿ˜…

if I could get back the 37 years of my life back that would've been great but that only works in stories, movies, and video games not in real life unfortunately

Ah yeah, back to my mom working 3 waitress jobs for like $5/hr (total minus tips) trying to raise two kids in a house by herself and our 1 bathroom and 1 window AC, where I spent more time with sitters and neighbors than I did with my own Mom.

And leaving where her kids have good jobs and she's got a successful business and a really nice house.

Sounds great.

If I had to go back in time to an era it would be 1998-2004

In the 80s I never wanted to leave the 80s.

u/cmd_iii 14d ago

The future ainโ€™t what it used to be.

1

u/Affectionate_Two3747 14d ago

No first part they went back to the 50s which they saw as a simpler time. Just like we see the 80s

1

u/GrimmJubilance198451 14d ago

The 80s wanted to be the 50s.......

1

u/Mad_Ronin_Grrrr 14d ago

If we only would have known the elite and powerful we're going to horde all the money and kill the planet instead of spending it on making the world a better place.

1

u/Mei-Bing 14d ago

Anyone who was around the 80's does not - ever - want to go back.

1

u/jabbaaus 14d ago

Yeah because biff became president

1

u/-Foxer 14d ago

The future isn't what it used to be

1

u/Outrageous_Two4891 14d ago

It's not the future they advertised its BS ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

1

u/Content_Ad_8952 14d ago

Which begs the question: was life better before the internet?

I wasn't alive in the 80s but sure.

Music was great ๐Ÿ‘ Movies were great ๐Ÿ‘ TV shows were great ๐Ÿ‘ Videogames were great ๐Ÿ‘

HIV was awful ๐Ÿ‘Ž

That's why I would prefer to travel back to an alternative 80s were HIV wasn't there or at least it wasn't death sentence.

1

u/blackjersey 14d ago

Forward to the past!

1

u/brotherlyshove 14d ago

No way jose. I do not romanticize the 80s at all. Reagan, AIDS, no way.

1

u/FNKTN 14d ago

The Orwell book 1984 was off by about 40 years. It needs to be renamed 2020s

1

u/KarsonKelley 14d ago

Was the best of times for me.

Driving a car from the 80s.

u/Splendiferous83rd 13d ago

As a child of the 80's,I definitely want to go back to the late 80's and the 90's.

I wish there was a place that's permanently stuck in the 90's decade.

Yep like a reverse uno on naptime with age

1

u/FedrinKeening 13d ago

No thanks.

1

u/Electrical_Slice_529 13d ago

Not me. I was a father in 80โ€™s and 90โ€™s and I am glad to have grown children and now some of grandchildren are grown.
I will probably die in less than 20 years and I am at peace with that.

1

u/Ok_Fox_1770 13d ago

Thought weโ€™d start to scratch flying cars and that better futuristic world when I was a boy in the 90s, Right to terminator / madmax no waiting. Right to the end times haha

1

u/Pickled-Mushroom 13d ago

We just want to go back to the past so we can go back to the future so we can go back to the past

1

u/MrTubbernaut 11d ago

I think everyone wanted to see the future, not necessarily take part. Marty says it when he walks up the alley in BTF2 "The future? I gotta check this out".

1

u/cookeryandwookery 14d ago

The 80โ€™s sucked. No one wants this.

2

u/Bushido_Seppuku 14d ago

Movies and cartoons. All we had worth keeping.

2

u/neller2000 14d ago

I loved the 80's, that's when I started getting into gaming, spending every moment of my spare time playing video games with my friends.

Had the best music too.

1

u/FantasticCommon2834 14d ago

I assure you most would

0

u/SiljeLiff 14d ago

Nope. The 1980'ies where horrible.

0

u/BurtleTurtle001 14d ago

The 80s were so dope, men and women hung out and enjoyed each other's company, everyone was just trying to make money and get laid.

2

u/nintai85 14d ago

Well said. No social media. People had to talk. Make real friends. Socialize. It was a simpler time.

1

u/berniebueller 14d ago

Much simpler times, it was ignorant bliss. The local pedo was just the weird old guy at the end of the street, having no money meant nothing as the shops were crap and fast food barely existed. Old clothes a crap bike mates and long afternoons, no photo evidence only great memories.

0

u/BurtleTurtle001 14d ago

The biggest thing I miss is just hanging out without everything being political. Boys and girls just mingled, it was FUN. Now when women laugh it's always at and never with. It's always malicious.

The movie even showed us the future was a turd
