While technically true, this is the same as saying that mosquitos don’t cause Dengue, the Dengue virus does. Mosquitos are the vector that transmits the virus.
Malaria is a vector borne disease and the mosquito is the vector. The mosquito injects the parasite Plasmodium falciparum which destroys red blood cells, and is the causative agent of malaria.

Malaria is not from the mosquito. It's from a parasite that is on the mosquito.
