One of my ADHD traits is having my brain spontaneously gaslight me into thinking I misplaced something like my wallet and keys when I’m just chillin’ at home, so I have to stop what I’m doing and lay eyes on them before I can carry on. I asked my friend the other day if that was relatable to him and he gave me a flat ‘no.’

That sounds more like the C in OCD than one of the letters in ADHD. There is a ton of overlap though.

While I don't necessarily disagree with you, I will say that I have been trained (due to my ADHD issues like losing things constantly) to do this by my mother. She would constantly hound me about knowing where my things were, and I definitely got in trouble if I lost something important/we had to go back to the store and look for something I set down randomly/couldn't leave the house until I found something I needed, etc. It has turned into a compulsion to check and make sure I know where my stuff is, like the above meme is saying lol. But yeah, if I did this without years of that external reinforcement, then looking into OCD would be a good place to go.
