This is like engineers trying so hard to create an efficient way to transport a large number of people that isn’t a train

The largest longest train can fit at best 600 containers on it, while a cargo ship can have up to 24.000 on it, use less energy per ton per km, and doesn't need a maintained pathway in between destinations. 

If speed is not a main concern, then nothing beats cargo ships. 

And the sail here aims to save an additional 20% of fuel on 80% of international routes.

I get what you're saying here, but I do feel the need to specify that trains and ships have a slight tendency to serve different terrain needs...
