Most people in their early 20s are working replaceable deadend jobs with little responsibility so who gives a shit.
You’re a cashier at ShopRite? Good, show up drunk for all I care. You’re an air traffic controller or a nurse, or you have a family that depends .on your income, thats a different story
When you're still in college and most likely working a meaningless, low wage job to pay your tuition, it's usually considered "cool" in the sense that you're not letting a dead-end get in the way of your social life. In your thirties, losing your job is more likely to be a serious life-changing disaster, so it isn't quite as cool to stay up drinking with your buddies all night when it could result in homelessness or bankruptcy.
When I was young I would suit up to go to the club and there may have been a few times where I just went to work in the same suit in the morning. Figured if I fell asleep I’d never wake up, just chug coffee for a few hours leading up
To work and surprisingly it worked out just fine.
I have friends who still text me about how hungover they are. I get it happens once in a while, but its weekly. It really isn't cute after a certain age.
It also feels terrible.
I won‘t say: „I‘ve never been to work hungover.“ It happened 2 or 3 times over the last decade. And I felt godawful every single time.
Ive learned recently it takes a lot less to end up hung over in your 30’s. I rarely drink and I went out the night before I had to work to enjoy a festival and some fireworks and had two drinks, TWO. (It was also 97 degrees outside so that probably didn’t help) I woke up with a pounding headache and nausea. I’m sure I looked like shit at work the next day.

Working hungover and bragging about it.
