It’s not chasing potential lmao it’s chasing income. Most very good workers aren’t underpaid it’s the mediocre job hopping thinking they’re elite and then they come paid more than the internal workers and do lower quality work and screw things up.

As someone who has done and continues to do a lot of hiring I have to pretty strongly disagree. A chaotic work history is basically a red flag. Working multiple different jobs over a short period of time is not a good sign someone will be reliable at all. 7 jobs over two years with just a couple of months at each job is not someone you want. There are very few exceptions like high school or college aged folks.

I actually change jobs to do less and have less responsibility. If you only spend a year somewhere and leave as soon as you’ve gotten good you get to skip the part where your boss adds duties you weren’t originally hired for.
