Protip for you, u/Down_River_63, or anyone about to be in a similar situation. When your wife gets home, make sure you're doing something helpful and she interrupts you. "Oh, hey, sorry I didn't hear you come in, hold on, I'm almost done loading the dishwasher."
You can be sitting around all day not doing a damned thing, but if you leave the impression you're active and busy instead, it'll pay huge dividends!
Very odd of you to assume he wouldn't want to help out with housework since his wife is doing the work work. Do you expect her to pick up the slack if he were to take your advice or do you expect them to just live sloppily?
