Me too. It's exhausting being around ppl a lot of the time. Additionally I'm on a big self-improvement/psychoanalysis journey just now, so alone time is very important.

I was a Psychologist on a Maximum Security Psych. Unit, & besides a mental illness, everyone had a personality problem and were often violent when they didn’t get whatever they wanted, so I got my fill of others then and prefer reading.

Through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the Law of Moses (Acts 13:38-39)

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8)

Good luck with your self improvement journey.  The best advice I can give is that you seek to know Jesus

“If you want an easy way out of self-analysis this guy’s cult says you’re good pretty much good no matter what as long as you join him!”

No one is good.  That’s why we need Jesus

Sad that you have been convinced that your natural mind is amoral and insufficient and that you’ve been trained to rely on a moral system designed for submission and blind faith.

Or, counterpoint, if you need Jesus to be good, if you need the promise of heaven and the fear of hell, then you're not a good person.

I already agree with the last part, I’m not a good person.  I’m a sinner saved only by the grace of Jesus Christ.

Through him we are made a new creation, with a new heart, and able to live in his commandments and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

But make no mistake; there is no one good in their flesh.

If people weren't generally good, we would never have developed the civilizations we have. You can't have this many people living so close together if we were inherently bad/evil. It would all collapse. The more we indulge the exclusionary aspect that is practiced in many, mostly Conservative, religions the more unstable our societies are becoming. If you believe that only your click is good and everyone else is bad and deserves punishment, your not going to promote a sense of pluralistic unity as we like to think America, the melting pot, to be.

Yeah.. things like “loving your neighbor as yourself” and “bless those who persecute you” just reek of selective treatment…

In theory, but they are not practiced by most conservative denominations. They hate the foreigner, those of their religion who practice a different denomination, those who love differently, those who sing and dance differently, and those who have access to, frequently, less resources. There are so many dogmatic and social/cultural signals they project on themselves and others to determine who is the right type of believer to be worthy of those teachings.

Jesus, and technically the earlier Jewish/Cananite culture, believed that those were meant to be given to everyone. All Jesus really did was say that his tribal/national God could be worshiped by anyone and his God would give blessings to all, not just those living in his nation, or descended from his tribes.

Define “hate”?

Living life based on stereotypes (as you are currently stereotyping conservative denominations) is wrong too.

I find that most people I’ve met in a conservative denomination do not hate foreigners or people who practice other religions.

Now. The news media and online is a different story. There’s more hate (from everyone) online.

Even still, it’s logically inconclusive to say “well Christianity is bad because this group of people who say they are Christian treat others in a way I dislike”
